closest thing to Cressi footpockets?

Thread Status: Hello , There was no answer in this thread for more than 60 days.
It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.
You better ask C4 for Beuchat pockets - they offer them too (if you ask).

I do not know why you said that we offer Beuchat pokets. We do not sell any Beuchat footpokets, and we never sold them..

With so many people faithfull to the Cressi Footpockets I don't see how Cressi NOT offering them as a stand alone sale makes any sense to the company from a pure profit per unit produced/sold.

For every one guy who loves an omer, Picasso (or whatever name brand) there are 5 others who swear by Cressi. If they offered the footpockets with the detachable blade system the sales would skyrocket.

Just my opinion.

Then again I am biased towards the Cressi footpockets because they are the only ones that fit my feet properly.

Nata- there was mention that if you order the C4s for the beuchet footpockets that the problem with the holes lining up and having to glue them in could be avoided. Is that true? Or am I doomed to have to deal with the problem when I want to step up to the C4's?

Yes, I know you do not sell Beuchat footpockets, but I tell it because I broke a Flap blade, and when consulting my local dealer about possible repair, he called the French distributor of C4, who told us I can get a C4 Flap blade for Beuchat foot-pockets (not the pockets) from them with no problems. Was he wrong or lying?

Hi Guys from what i understand the reason cressi do not supply their pockets seperatly is for 2 reasons:

1. they feel that detachable bladed fins are not as efficient at transfuring energy as one piece fins, so they will not poduce.

2. their fins are molded as one unit and therefor the footpockets even if purchased before the blade is molded into it would not function correctly if another blade was attempted to be inserted.

i could be wrong about number 1 i heard it through a third party.

but it would be nice though.

I can understand that detachable blade moves slightly in the pocket edges, but it would be interesting to find out how much difference it makes.

Hi Nata,

It is wonderful having you on our DB forum, C4 products are incredibly well regarded.

Let me sum up here the need, maybe you can turn it into a market opportunity:

there are two "types" off feet in the world it seems: wide and narrow! The Omer footpockets, and the Speton that seem to come with the C4's are the "wide" type, that are obviously great for many people. The cressi footpocket, and apparently the beuchat, is the "narrow" type, but apparently not available from C4. So, why not offer one of the worlds best blades with the narrow (new) and wide (existing) options?? :king

Best regards!

Beauchat are the closest feel to a Cressi footpocket IMO. They are my favourites. I think it's better to find a way to get them to fit the fin you want... don't try to get an uncomfortable pocket to fit your feet ;)

Most people disagree with me, but I went from a Cressi to the Picasso footpockets, and I won't use anything else. Since I broke in the Picasso pockets, they've been the most comfortable ones I've tried. Way more comfortable to me than the OMER, Spetton, and Sporasub ones I've used.

You must have wide feet then. I have both fins and the Picasso fins just don't fit as well as the Cressi footpockets do. But then again. I have narrow feet.

With the Picasso fins I need to wear fin keepers. With the Cressi fins, they fit so well that I don't need to wear anything to keep them on.

I try to sum up everything..

Fist of all I happy too to be here with you. ;)

Please, not make new holes on our blades, because making them you will alter the blade endurance. This is very important, you can unintentionally broken them. ( after a short using-period )

That's false, we can not make on purpose special holes on our blades, I'm sorry.

Ciao,
Natalia

Hi Nata, can you confirm that C4 make blades specifically for Beuchat footpockets (as well as for Omer footpockets)?

BTW Just to muddy the waters, I have wide (UK D-width I think) feet and use Beuchat footpockets and find them comfortable. I use them with neoprene socks in winter & bare foot in the summer (& in the pool), upto 3 or 4 hours at a time -- so I would think a pretty good fit.

I'm sorry, we don't do that.

That's a false news.:head

Yes, sorry, that was me who posted the false news. To my excuse, I got the information from the French dealer of C4.

But anyway, Nata, if you cannot ship blades for Beuchat footpockets, I guess it should be possible that you ship them without any holes at all. We could then drill holes as we need. Can you do that?

Also, can you tell us if you sell the new rubber rails separately, and what they cost? I did not find them at any reseller.

The old (straight) and the new (parabolic) C4 rails are sold as a spare part, at least in Italy. Around EUR5 per piece(!), if I remember correctly.

Cheers, ulysses

Does anybody know where I can find a stockist of Beauchat footpockets in the UK?

Scubastore will mail them if that's any help. Check the price of a pair of Beauchat fins first. I don't think the plastic ones cost very much more than two footpockets + one fixing Kit, and you'll have a spare pair of plastic blades.
Blades other than Beauchat do need some alteration to the side rails to make them fit Beauchat footpockets and the placing of the screw holes is different on Beauchat to that on Omer and Sporasub.
