So I'm planning on getting a kayak to use for spearfishing, as of right now I'm still looking for a dive partner so I'd like something that I could carry on my own. Does anyone have any experience with these collapsible kayaks? Are they difficult to get in and out of? Would they make decent crafts for short day trips? Also I don't live anywhere near the ocean so I'm going to be going out on lakes and rivers mostly. Any response is appreciated.

I've seen folk using the Savilar/Salivar(?) inflatable kayaks in the sea, although not for spearing. I would be worried about piercing the vessel with my spear or fish stringer but plenty of spearos use RIBs so perhaps that is just me be over cautious.

You might consider a small, solid SOT kayak or surf ski instead. Alternatively I was surprised to find those huge surfboards that folk stand on to paddle are inflatable; they look very tough, at least the British made ones I saw being sold on the market at Kingsbridge were.

Ok Thanks
