Hi All

We at Saltfree are currently trying to work out if it might be
feasible to host another freedive competition in the UK this year.
In order to see if it is financially viable, and worth the effort,
it would be really cool to get an idea of who might actually come
along if we decide to do it.

Our comp would be in early May, at Chepstow (near Bristol). It
would be Constant Weight only running over one day (Saturday) with
an optional training day the weekend before and a party of some kind
in the evening. We would have AIDA Ranking and International
Judges. The maximum depth would be around 70m. Water temp would be
about 12C, viz about 6m. Full safety scuba cover and counterweight
system would be in place.

The price to enter would be in the region of £50 (yes its a lot but
it's what it costs to do and that's if we get a good deal on the
insurance).

To make it work, we'd need a minimum of around 25 athletes and
well... we just don't know if there are enough of you out there! So
if there are.... let us know... if you think you would probably or
definitely enter such a competition - please let me know. We won't
hold you to it if we do go ahead but please don't reply yes if you
really have no intention of coming!

Thanks for your help

Sam

Hi Sam,

I'd love to come along, pursuant to a couple of points.

1) Wedding anniversary is on May 14... wouldn't even dream about doing that weekend lest there be trouble :martial :crutch
2) In laws are flying out from Australia from 3/5 to 23/5. First week of May I should be able to escape but after that i'll be expected to spend some quality time with them.
3) Need to order that Elios wetsuit - will have to bite the bullet and accept that i'll probably be the same weight for the next year or so
4) Lanyards - where could I get one of these? I'm not renown for my DIY skills.

So in summary - if in early May - yes, any later then no.

Cheers,
Ben

I'll have a go Sam, it'll give the scubies something to look at near the top of their deco. Early in may is better.

Single CW with fins discipline or free immersion etc later in the day ?

Lammy

Just CW - too difficult/expensive to organise anything else

I would try to go. One day suits me fine. Why not just let people subscribe and do the depth any way they want i.e. free immersion, no fins, constant?

Hi Sam,

I've finally figured out how to use this forum thing - wonders will never cease!

Yes I'd be interested. Happy to help out if I can. May sounds fine, wouldn't mind when as long as I know in good time and I can juggle everything else.

Liv

I would be going too, as long as it is not the 13-14 week-end
Why in May Sam, and not July for example, when it is warmer?

I would be there too.
It would be nice if we could choose beetween CWT, CWTNF and FI.
May is quiet busy. There's a great competition in Nice the 25-29 may and I guess Rémi would like to go.

sorry guys but there just isn't enough interest in this to cover costs - so we won't be doing a full comp although I have some other ideas to keep SaltFree-ers fins wet - watch this space!
