I've noticed recently huge regress when it comes to my results and training performance.

I've started seeing some good numbers, especially in static. Suddenly I struggle to achieve results from year behind. I thought it was the change to my training method but I came back to my normal routine to see it's as bad.

I'm puzzled as for what happened. First days I thought it could be tiredness, perhaps diet and most of all stress. But I've used to be tired and stressed before without huge impact on results.

I'm definitely not burned out because I've got motivation and passion - just like on the beginning. I even took short brake from training but nothing has changed.

Did any of you suffered something similar before?

It's happened to me before. I could easily do a static of 2min+, then stopped practising then couldn't even do 1:30min. Then it took me a while of practising to get back there. Now I'm easily doing statics of 2:30min + up to 3 mins. Don't know if this is what you are talking about. So i think just practise each day a couple of breathholds each night before you sleep and dive as frequently as you can.

Hope this helps

If you're timing yourself, it could be a psychological issue.
Before I got into training and knew about techniques, I could easily do a static of 2+min, often close to 3min.

Since I began to train "in earnest", with timing myself to see whether I make progress, I've become worse and worse! lol.
(yes, I do the correct techniques.)

I'm doing best when I don't know I'm timed, and don't always think about outdoing my previous performances.

@Apneaddict - Monday -lactic tolerance (not hard), Tuesday CO2 table, Wed O2 (one, two max attempts), Thursday - CO2 + Apnea Walk, Friday - O2 (one attempt), Saturday rest, Sund - DNF training - technique plus some CO2 tolerance.

@MozSpearer - if the drop wasn't that significant I wouldn't worry. But I'm talking here about almost 50% drop in performance.

@seaflower - timing worked fin for me in the past. I wait until first contractions to glance at watch, then go further checking the time very rarely.

That is a big difference. I'm not an expert in training, I just practised breath holding since I was about 8.

Sorry I couldn't help you... Hope you manage to improve again!!

50% drop in performance IMO cannot be explained by changes in diet/stress level/sleep etc. It's most likely overtraining as suggested by Apneaddict. Your training routine (at least at the time you sent me the description on PM) was quite intensive.

and don't forget about safety buddy
I allways have better results when i know that near me are a buddy who can keep time in STA for me
I don-t do dry static except some Co2 table once a month
when i go for a STA i do the first warming knowing that it will be arround 45 sec- one minute and i never push myself in the first 2 warming-up STA. After those 2 or three warms-up i go for a max. Now my body is more comfortable with Co2 built and i easely do 2:30, even 3:10 min.
My buddy announce my at 1:00, 2:00, 2:30 and 3:00. After that at every 10 sec.
And as a fact somehow weird: I allways do the best DYN after the STA sessions, not before :p

And if you can go to the pool in the first part of the day, I guess it will be better, as you are not so tired after a day's work....
