Hi everyone,
I'm from Bournemouth and unfortunately I'm unable to freedive in the sea I was wondering if anyone new of an area that is fairlky close by. I really want to try constant diving but at the moment I can only practise dynamic apnea.

I was also wondering what kind of distances are any good in dynamic freediving. I've managed 67.5 lengths (3 lengths at a 25 yard pool).

Thanks in advance

67.5 lengths is pretty good! ;)

seriously 67.5m is very good. btw- 75yds is over 68m... even better! :)

if you want to try constant weight freediving then you should consider attending a deeperblue freediving course, which are held in a 30m tank in Gosport - not too far from Bournemouth:

I really should have checked what i was writing, o well!
Thanks for you advice but unfortunately i was hoping for something that was closer to free. I'm 17 and although I have a job my othe freediving friends dont.

Thanks

it would be a good idea to take some form of course or even seek informal instruction from an experienced freediver. freediving is much like scuba in that it's not really something you should try without training.

check: www.britishfreediving.org
you can also ask if anyone knows of places to dive near Bournemouth by sending an email to:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/AIDAUK/ (UK freediving email list)

good luck

Dear Pyro

I am new to these forums. I am one year into surfing and I think I need to learn how to hold my breath for longer to cope with hold-downs that occur in bigger waves. I am open to free-diving/snorkelling too. I live in Bournemouth and would love to meet like-minded individuals!

James :)
