During a chat I learned about a way to restrain contractions in STA or training tables, where we lock our perineum, diaphragm, and epiglottis(maybe glottis). I just saw a free diver doing a CO2 table without obvious contractions. She said at first we may feel tenser controlling the contractions but later it will help.
I have several doubts. First is that contractions are natural effects but we refrain from it, then is there any negative effects besides possible throat tension? Secondly, is this technique really helpful to our relaxation and save oxygen from contractions? Thirdly, if we control contractions at depths will it help reduce the risk of trachea squeeze?

Actually I have been using it a little bit during my training. After I felt the urge to breath I usually refrain the first few small contractions, then I let them come.
