Contractions and equalising

Thread Status: Hello , There was no answer in this thread for more than 90 days.
It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.
Back to your original question - maybe you can't easily solve the problem getting early contractions but perhaps you can find a way to EQ despite the contractions?

Why exactly do contractions result in a missing equalisation? If you were using mouthfil it'd be worse as the contractions could make you lose the mouthfil but how do they cause an issue with frenzel/btv?

Are you sure the EQ issue relates to contractions? Might be worth trying a few VW dives to the same depth and seeing how consistent your equalisation is?

Nah, EQ is fine, at least for the moment. Only problem I've ever had is sinus squeeze if I have a cold or something. I don't think it's possible to EQ during a contraction and have to wait til after it passes, absolutely fine if they're small but if they're big it causes too much of a delay between EQs and I miss one, then it's all over. Some flexibility work might help them to pass a bit quicker.

Hello Alon, I have not heard that an early freefall gives early contractions.

I would think the opposite generally. Definitely for me, I need to ease into the depth without too much work, saving energy for having fun down there (spearing) or the return (line dives).

Regarding the original poster: 15m nuetral and 20 free fall sounds fine, for about a 30 to 40m dive. (you did not mention your target depth).

To put some context in, Herbert free falls from about 20 to 120...

Freefalling from 20(neutral at 15) when your target depth is 30 or 40 is perfect, when the target depth is 60 or 70+ m its a bit early...unless you have no problem with longer dives-like herbert falling from 20...

yes simos-this was my meaning-an early freefall prolong the dive which can lead to early contractions, also the sensation of being too slow on the way down is not that encourage for the mind(at least my mind:head)
