Cheers for the thoughts.

Does anyone use a gun with a single band (rather than a pair)? Do they pull straight? Just thought that if it was off centre the pull would be off to one side, does the individual band also wear out a lot quicker where it sits on the front end?

Took a look at a north coast spot after work. Looks like a nice spot, but looked pretty murky so didn't go in.

Some of my guns have looped bands with a spectra wishbone sj, once you pull the band down to load under the water they are fairly easy to line up as the water sort of lubricates the rubber allowing it to slide around the muzzle hole quite easily, Ive not noticed the bands wearing out around that area either.

Using a single circular band is a great idea because it can give you a little bit more power & cost less than the screw in alternative, the only trade off is not quite such a direct line up with the spear.

Got for sale a Beuchat marlin carbone 85 that Ive used 3 times its like new, Ive also changed the wishbone to dyneema and replaced the spear for an unused Rob Allen one.
Its got to be a bargain at £140

Wish I could justify buying that mate, its a good price. I have the 95 version and its a tad too long but its manageable :head

Yeh the 95 is more like 100 and the 85 is like a 90, they are great & accurate spearguns I just cant justify keeping it as I have enough guns and want to concentrate on getting a better boat/outboard for the season.

Well its one of those easy to break rules that gets broken all the time, especially at this time of year!
I can see the logic in the rule as we could become a spearfishing EBay with just a few reports in between.:t
So it nothing personal just a pain when I have to keep reminding folk every week.
I think it would be OK to make a post saying something like - "Guys, I have some kit for sale look here" Goods For Sale although technically even that is against the forum rules LOL.

how well do the viewing 'windows' work? i know it depends on viz etc but if viz good is it much the same as looking down wearing a mask?

no fish up here (NI) yet!! Still freezing.

Does anyone now if you need a permit to drop a few lobster pots in Cornish waters? I was going to take some out on my float and place them near good looking spots.

A friend said anybody is allowed to drop up to 5 but I not convinced he has a clue what he's talking about lol :)

I haven't had good enough vis to do that yet! - But I would prefer to have my head under the water anyway, how gutted would you be if a nice big fish cruised by and you saw it through the window!?

I've heard of the up to 5 pots rule. Don't know for sure, but that's my understanding. I've still got a shiny new pot from the days when I had a boat to fish off. Really must get round to selling it.

Went in on Saturday morning West of Falmouth, it was like pea soup, could not see the end of the speargun. Anyway, the waters are definitely getting warmer. I guess that's why the Basking sharks have arrived, plankton and warmer water. Does anyone knows how long this will last or if there are some parts of the south coast that are not as bad?
