hello all, i had a look around the lizard point today and thought it might have abit of potential, does anyone know what its like around there? also is there much tide around that area? was quite blown up today so looked risky but not sure if its usually like that.

There's big shoals of mackerel around in Falmouth bay at the moment, you can see the water 'boiling' in places. Looks quite cool. Spent two hours taking plenty of shots day before yesterday but to no avail... Any tips? I thought about getting a trident head.
Also went in at just south of the Helford yesterday, but again no luck... Just saw wrasse and small pollack. Getting quite frustrating!

Great first bass fella! Quality fish.
(reckon you're lucky to have kept it though, that's a proper tear off spot).

Spear came in just below the spine on the other side so it's not as bad as it looks. She was swimming away from me below me as I saw her so didn't have the time to line up a better shot...
Also the reason I have my float directly attached to my gun rather than myself, I can let go of the gun and swim down to whatever I've shot without having to worry a second about the gun... Reduces the chance of tear-off.
Sounds like you've got it all figured out. If half the 'newbie' spearo's that are springing up on here turn out to be as conscientious as you i'll be a happy man!!

Kernowsniper and I went for a very quick sniping yesterday and even Cornwall north coast on the high had questionable vis in as with the rest of the coastline it seems. We were only in for a short time as Jim has a new toy in the context of a dive watch to play with...(yep, he just got one).
I also had a first in that in all the many years of diving, I have never seen a sea trout, yesterdays was a goodie at about 5lb and it buzzed both Jim and I in different areas. Beautiful 'game' fish amongst the best bass in 12.7m @ 16deg.
I also went back to basics on something I have not done in a long while which was to put my brand new Rob Allen Carbon Sutu a few feet off the head of the biggest (about 4lb) bass in the school, and attempt to pull the trigger while the safety was on:head I have not done that in a while! The Sutu does not have a pronounced safety and my other guns have the plastic safety cut off.
Interestingly, in a very highly populated crab/lobbie area, we did not see anything of the sort in the dive.
Unfortunately, I found out that just because my nostrils were clear, the inner ear must still have infection as I rapidly practised mid descent handbrake turns when the pain turned on, and I thought it best to not ruin the end of season by pushing on.
Still, nice session with Jim getting a lovely bass for dinner minus GoPro!

Just doing far more reading here than posting so that's why you've probably not seem much of me around before. Had a weird fish-season, lots of flatties that I never used to find, got absolutely addicted to squid, but no bass till that one so I was pretty chuffed...
Great video but i always get butterfiles in the stomach when i see someone pointing a loaded speargun at their chest to get a shot of themself with fish. It does not matter if the safety catch is on or if your finger is not on the trigger. The only true safety catch is an unloaded speargun! It's a matter of time before someone gets a spear through their chest. If you see some of my old videos you will notice slack rubbers meaning the spear gun is not loaded. Am i ranting? Too bloody right, but only because you have just put a good short video on the forum and we all want to see more of them and not a news article about some spearo who just kababed himself! Keep up the good filming but slack rubbers when doing the self portaite please!
hello all, I've been trying around maenporth recently but had no luck, was going to rule it of of places to try but looks like its been producing good fish recently. would anyone mind helping me abit as to when the best times to fish is and also which way to go etc as I've been both ways but never seen anything apart from baby Pollock
Any vis reports from the last day or so from the south coast.. thinkin I may head over on saturday. Cheers
