Thread Status: Hello , There was no answer in this thread for more than 60 days.
It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.

This happened to me a few days ago off of roseland, I didn't hang about either!

Yes its differently made me a little uncomfortable, It was a great experience but just unsure on how friendly they are in general.

Generally found the smaller seals to be a little playful and Inquisitive but larger males are a bit grumpy in my experience, the one that I met recently was not a happy bunny and was being pretty vocal; territorial behaviour perhaps?

I'm no expert

Yeh this one wasn't being Vocal but just un-nerving.

Yea perhaps i could have had a similar encounter if i wasn't freaking out! Hopefully next time i will be alot more relaxed. Thankyou very much for posting that amazing video!

Right then, progress! Got in this afternoon at a very tucked away spot. Not bad vis compared to earlier this week at 3-4m. Had a great dive, no grumpy seals and came away with a large male Bull Huss. Got just over 2kg of fillet meat and just under a kilo of scrap meat for fish pie/curry. I positively id'd the Huss as a male (thinking conservation, just the same as a Ray; two large...... Ahem under the anal fin) and now it's been carefully skinned and prepped for tea and the freezer. Not sure on the un gutted weight of the fish.
Plenty of smaller pollack about but not much else. Anyone else been in today?
 
Good effort, surprised you managed to find any vis on the south coast. went in on Sat but was only able to see about half way down my gun! tried shallow, deep, inshore, further off, only to find the same pea soup. Went to Holywell bay on Sunday with my youth rugby team for a social afternoon. After a bit of messing about in the surf I kitted up and had a swim over to the cliffs on the left hand side. It was hard work getting out back but the vis was great. No bloom! No silver seen just loads of spiders, large wrasse and small Pollock. Definitely need to explore the north coast more.
 
Went to a few marks earlier, the water was just a tad too rough for my liking so I left it tonight, sorry to disappoint anyone!

Never apologise for taking the sensible option. Would hate to read a rescue report instead of a vis report!

I don't know been in a few scrapes makes life shall we saying interesting or just s**t your wet suit time
 
I thought you were being a bit ambitious with these easterlies but I was hoping that you would sacrifice yourself just so I could have a viz report.:crutch
 
Got in for a quick try out of some new fins in falmouth yesterday. Vis was loads better than it has been this week, the algae seems to have died finally. Still a bit soupy but definitely worth going in. New float and fins + second dive of this summer + swell meant I spent most of the time wrapped up in my float line swearing like a trooper though...
 

Just got out from trying my new float setup up and fins completely understand where your coming from. Its pretty choppy around here. Wanting to get back in later anyone know if its going to carm down abit ( around falmouth) or any suggestions of somewhere else to go?
