If you're hanging the pulleys below the kayak like that, they'll get pulled towards each other and swing up, hitting the bottom of the kayak. I suggest either connecting the pulleys directly with a pole, or have them rigidly attached to the kayak. The latter may be tough to achieve without the line riding along the kayak but may work if you go across the top and use large enough pulleys.
Depending on how deep you plan to dive, your lines may be a bit too close together for comfort.
I like that the system is equally weighted during normal use which makes adjusting depth really easy, but if you need the counterweight, it'll be a bit slower to respond if you have to push it off the end of the kayak. You may want to consider having it hang in the water but connected to the kayak via a quick release mechanism like a Sea Catch, or fiddlestick (as used for canyoneering). Or just have the line already weighted but restricted by a sailing style line brake.
Either way, make sure you test it out before you need it for real. Good luck.
