Courses in Thailand

Hello!

Im new to freediving, took a shorter course in Dahab in february and now i really want to explore the new world!

Right now im in India, but my intentions is to head somewhere they have a good course. I like thailand so that is probably where i will go.

Now to the question, from what iv'e found from google there is basicly two options of islands for me in thailand. Koh Lanta (Blue planet divers) and Koh Tao (Apnea total - Blue Immersion - Gapinternshipthailand)

Anyone has anything to say about this choices? I know that some of them are not AIDA certifyed, like gapinternshipthailand.

Also ive looked to Philippines and found only one option, Freediving Philipphines..

Please guide me on my way

Hi Sunki

Koh Tao has a super nice Freediving Instrcutor named Akim at Blue immersion, you will have great fun there, the diving is apparently excellent!

Also in Phuket if you contact Sea Bees Diving ~ Phuket, Khao Lak ~ Thailand | Tauchen in Thailand and talk to Holger, they have beautiful boats and service and have 2 super nice freediving instructors Richard and Sara, there is some great diving there also.

Go to both and get twice the fun!!!

You will have fun Freediving in thailand!!!!!.....I just got back from my first trip there, really cool fun!!!

Hi Sunki, welcome to db.
I have dived Koh Tao but, I think I might of been lucky to go there 22 years ago when the sea was still full of fish!
However I can still remember the little island as a beautiful place to be on this earth & the Thai people who lived there as being the friendliest folk you could ever meet.
I had a great encounter with a very large tiger shark while on a shore dive - scarred the s..t out of me to be honest but, a great experience LOL.
O & a warm welcome to you too OZ Mike, I guess you have had a few shark encounters yourself?

If you end up diving with either of the people that Mike mentioned you will end up having a really good experience. Another big thumbs up for Sara and Richard at WeFreedive, I took AIDA ** course with Richard and it was most excellent. I have been freediving and spearfishing for over 35 years and he was able to teach me many things and help my freediving tremendously. It is rare to find someone with skill, enthusiam, and teaching ability like this......all in beautiful Phuket......

Just for the record: Apart from AIDA certification up to 4*, Sarah and I are also SSI Freediving instructors, so if you would like an SSI certification (up to level 3) that's not a problem - the same goes for Apnea Academy courses.

So when you come by, the choice is yours. And yes, we cooperate with the Sea Bees, who deliver the (excellent) infrastructure for our courses with the best dive operation I have seen on the Andaman Sea.

We'll also have a competition running in February: Sea Bees are organising one. We're still working on the details, but you're looking at some decent depth ~80-100m and high quality everything, if it's anything like their other business. I'm looking forward to judging that one.
