Cressi Drake -- New Freediving Watch

Thread Status: Hello , There was no answer in this thread for more than 60 days.
It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.
I'm on the market for a watch. After going through the options I'm between Cressi Drake (270~ Euro) and Suunto D4F (~280). Also suunto has the added cost of battery replacements unless the internet replacement kits are okay?? Does anyone use them himself? Also as I understand it the Drake has some extra features, are these features something I will miss in my diving if I choose the Suunto?
It depends wether you are doing specific training for freediving.
I have looked at the features of the D4f and they are not even close to what the Drake has to offer. I personally train at least once probably twice a week next to freediving/spearfishing in the weekend and I can say that all the training functions and different programs are super nice features! I love the Cressi Drake in every way and would recommend it to anyone.
With our freediving club we are doing specific pool exercices and this watch allows me to keep track of my performance and adjust accordingly. Also I can program surface time intervals or max depth times or ... basically whatever I want.
The Suunto D4f only has a chrono as a training feature! For that price they should have come up with something better I think. If you look at the features it has to offer there are better options out there that are much cheaper. I think with the Suunto you ar buying the name of the brand.

Thanks for help, I'm training a lot for freediving. You don't seem to be worried about drake not being reliable in the long term and that's good. I have to admit the looks of the suunto win me but will take the features all else the same.

Reliability will certainly not be an issue. It has been working flawless and is built very well. I guess taste is personal but to me the all black of the Drake and not too many visual 'features ' look way better.

If you train often you will not be disappointed!

I read that cable for PC connection isn't included with the d4f.

You need to buy separately also with Cressi

With a quick search on the net I am not able to find it from Greece. And since I ordered the watch yesterday I will have to find it somehow..
I found some inflated ( i hope) prices from foreign websites.

Anyone has changed the battery himself? Did you change the seal as well?

Yes you can easily change the battery yourself. Make sure you use the appropriate screwdriver not to damage the tiny screws. Perhaps add a tiny amount of silicone grease if the o-ring feels dry.

I crossed fingers and did it since I was diving the following day. Didn't put grease but was surprised to see quite a bit of junk in there and on the o ring which I cleaned. Also one of the screws didn't want to go in straight but it did eventually. It Is still working.
