Cressi Gara fins

Hi all,

new to the forum thought i'd say hi and ask a couple of questions.

I must confess i am a scuba diver and haven't done any free diving, but i aim to do both on seperate weeks on my upcoming trip to mombasa.

I want to buy a pair of fins, and have used and enjoyed cressi garas before, and wondered if people recommended the 2000 or the 3000?

I also wanted to know if anyone was selling a second hand pair in a UK size 9.

3000 LD. Soft fins, but great below and on the surface.

hi, welcome to the site...
the 3000's are fantastic fins, but are quite stiff... i have the 3000hf which are the stiffest... the 3000ld (long distance) are made of softer plastic... both fins are sturdy and will last for 30 years and more!!!

i would recommend the 3000's for spearfishing as their extra stiffness and power allow you to power big fish to the surface and i would recommend the 2000's for freediving as they are softer and will allow you use less energy (and oxygen) and therefore reach potentially greater depths...

Great fins, great price.

Just remember that the black ones (2000/3000 HF) are stiffer and the grey ones (2000/3000 LD) are softer and the 3000s are newer models.

Yes, the Cressi Gara 3000 (HF) are pretty comfortable, are well made and have a reasonable price (something like 80-90 Euros, in Italy).

i ended up buying the 2000hfs, just wanna try them out really, and they might get a bit knocked about between now and my summer travels. I will see how i get on with them and then get some 3000s at some point. Thanks for the advice

I have those and I'm happy with them. 3000 are too soft for me.

I also have the 2000 HF's. I'm not sure but the cressi-sub website says the 2000's are stiffer then the 3000's. My fins are great, i've had them for over 10 years. they are durable and will last along time. These are my favorite fins.

I've kicked the tires of the Gara2000 and the Gara3000 in the shop: The 2000s are definitely stiffer than the 3000s. I got the 3000s as a result and am very happy with them.

I will have to say, I don't like none of those fins both of them have a grave problem (IMO), the foot pocket is very soft on the sole, so when using them they bend in the middle of the foot, I used to get cramps all the time with my 2000, the 3000 is a little better but still have the soft sole problem. On that price range I would go with a omer or a picasso, at least those if you decide to commit to the sport you can just upgrade the blades.
