I currently am pretty happy with my Cressi Big Eyes Evolution, but I know it is not among the low volume models they offer.

Just curious if anyone has dove with the "Ocean Eyes", "Eyes Evolution" or "Superocchio" models?

Other low volume suggestions are obviously welcome.

I have had the Superocchio for years and I have tried many other, but I always go back to it.

Likewise, I've been happy with my superocchio for 7 or 8 years.

I have superocchio's and have never been able to get them to fit without leaking. I replaced them with a Beauchat mask and problem solved.

I am with ReefTroll, as the superocchio that I have leaks all the time also. That Ocean eyes mask looks great.

All low volume masks are good nowaday, the real issue is fitting as each face has different shape. Best option would be to try them directly in water if possible. Sorry for stating the obvious but what it's good for someone might not be good for you.

i bought the ocean eyes 'cause you can get prescription lenses for it. never used it though, it is really clunky up close, and high volume too. I have a Mares X vision with huge lenses that has about 2/3 of the internal volume of the ocean eyes

Gee thanks...

Mate, didn't mean that in a bad way, it was truly my best advice. sorry if it came out the wrong way.
By the way, i had the cressi minima, which is really suitable only for pure freediving and now i'm using the micromask technisub which i find amazing.
a bit pricy but definetely worth it.

Cheers.

Scuba Pro Scout is working great with me after trying micro Beauchat which was leaking... All best

The Cressi Minima ( Cressi Minima. Masks Masks, Scubastore.com, buy, offers, dive ) is one of the lowest-volume masks on the market, and I've found that it fits both my SO and me, and we have very different face shapes.

I've never found a store that carries the Minima in stock so that you can try before you buy. Around here, you have to order it online & then return it if it doesn't work for you.

I also like the Aquasphere Sphera, which has a somewhat higher volume than the Minima, but is so flexible, it makes equalizing really easy. Unfortunately , the Sphera fits me, but my SO can't get it to fit her.

An option I've used when trying masks on in a dive store is the old "suction test".

Put the mask on your face without using the strap behind your head. Suck some air out of the mask and see if it seals to your face well enough to stay on, held there by the suction alone.

Even a small leak will cause it to come loose, and I reject any mask that has even a slow leak.

This doesn't tell you everything you need to know about how well it will perform for you in the water, but at least it tells you whether you'll have an annoying leak if you use tha mask.

I cut the "second seal / lip" on the superocchio and it sealed much easier and became more compliant.

Do a search on the forum for pics and guidelines.

Makes this great mask... That much better for a lot of people.

If your still needing some help buying a mask you can check out this site it's pretty awesome. it has helped me out a bunch in choosing and buying a mask. i personally use and love the cressi superocchio.

It sounds like you're trying to stay Cressi specific. But I use the O.ME.R. Bandit and it's AMAZING! I have been using it for about 7-8 months now and it has been great. It is very low volume and the deeper Springs in my area- Troy, Orange Grove Sink, I haven't had a problem equalizing at 20+ meters. This is obviously due to it's very low volume design. If you're willing to stray from Cressi try on- All the O.ME.R./Sporasub line, Technisub Micromask, etc. I have not tried the Aqualung Sphera which is very popular. I don't think it's a very good mask for 1 reason, PLASTIC LENS! If you're looking at the Sphera I would go with it's glass lensed sister, The Aqualung Falco. Hope you find a good mask.

It depends what you are looking for. There is nothing better than plastic lense for deep diving, because the plastic gives the mask more flexibility and compressibility. So, in this point of view, there is barely some mask that can beat the Sommap Flow or Aquasphere Sphera. They are also excellent for UW rugby.

If you need a low volume mask with large field of vision and a flat lense, then I just discovered yesterday the Beuchat Maxlux. I am a fan of Technisub Micromask, because of its excellent field of vision, but I was completely blown away with the Maxlux. Low volume (137 ml), but such a field ov vision that you practically don't see the mask skirt or frame at all (well, the mask has no frame in fact). In the same time, the mask is very comfortable, no painfull pressing against the eyebrow, nose, or teeth, and it seals perfectly (at least we got a very good seal on three quite different faces).

Trux, This looks like a fantastic mask! I agree with everything you said. The reason I suggested a mask with tempered glass is because Beast_Beneath the guy who started the thread lives in Gainesville. So he would mainly dive the springs is my impression. In the springs your gear can easily get scratched. So a plastic lens would not be ideal. I dive the springs and rarely dive the ocean since I live no where near it! Especially where there is good diving. So when you go dive the springs with new gear, suddenly, it won't look so new! Hahaha
