I have a cressi sub sl100 pneumatic and i like it 
So far its very reliable, and shoots quite accurate.

If you're gonna dive in the UK and this is your main gun then my advice would be forget it. Nothing wrong with the gun but as 99% of UK spearo's use a 75cm or 90cm single band gun there must be a reason for that. Air guns have a rather specialist use in our waters. However it's a free country so your choice.

Hey Ersi,
Not sure if you have taken the plunge on a new gun yet but check out the legalities of flying with the pneumatic...being a "pressurized vessel" you could easily run into problems when flying...or face pumping it up every time you get to Cyprus (which may not be a hassle if you can charge it up from a cylinder...ask Greek Diver for advice on this).
I've never had anything to do with Cressi's...but I've owned a few mares cyrano's and they seem to have heaps of power and never missed a beat.:blackeye
Depending on your height I would get a 970 or 1100 cyrano.
Of course many guys would recommend going the Mamba kit...which is meant to add around 10atm's power according to tovarich email catalogue. In Australia most guys use rubber....but its just what you get used to.

Flying with a pneumatic gun....no problem. I have flown 10's of times with pneumatics, many times I have been asked to have them x rayed prior to being loaded into the hold. Every time the x ray guys were cool. We chatted about what it was and they didnt flinch at all. One time in 2002 I was checking in for a Thai airways flight and they suggested that I carry the bag containing my band and pneumatic guns onboard as hand luggage.... I declined and said nothing!

I'll put in my 2 cuban centavos...on the darkside! I build band guns and shoot farters, I think size for size a band gun would be hard pressed to shot harder than a farter...I have never shot in UK, but perhaps the shorter gun has its application do to the water clarity as here in Miami I will shoot a 75cm in the bay do to the low viz and can tell you beyond doubt that my 75cm airgun will shoot farther and harder than my buddies same size band gun, as far as accuracy, if the band gun is not in an enclosed track then the farter (being in a "barrel") has some obvious accuracy...as for the CS guns they have been around for quite some and most that have them say they are good realiable guns. Not to say that a band gun is not a great tool either, in fact I always say most everything out there is as good as the user and more importantly the confidence/comfort level you feel with it.

Even though no one here uses pneumatics I got one anyways and turns out it is a very effective speargun for our Tongan waters.
From what little I know,pneumatics do well for there size in poor visibility.
I dont see why they would not contend in UK waters with band guns in 75-90 size.

I've used pneumatics for years now, never had any problems with them in UK waters, I like my band guns too mind, just prefer pneumatics generally in the uk....when we went to Ibiza for s freediving comp ages ago, and used them in deeper water mine lost a fair bit of power, if you get one (over 55cm) - consider getting a thinner spear, as the standard 8mm ones are pretty heavy - you can get the thinner tahitian style spears in either 6.5 or 7mm from here:
