Cutting gloves

I just bought a pair of 5mil gloves. They weren't cheap at $30 and am nervous about cutting them. I don't spear but need to use a camera. Do you guys generally cut the tips or all of the fingers off for dexterity? My first pair of cold water gloves. Been using tropics and never had an issue.

I've head of cave divers ding that so they can run lne, but I don't becaus my fingers would get way too cold. I have found that when you switch to really thick gloves your better off with mitts- warmer and you don't realy lose that much in dexterity.

I use 5mm mitts and have no issues with my camera or my speargun. I also have some 5-finger dry gloves that are so bulky that I can barely use the buttons on my camra housing.

Well, my Pathfinder is semi-retired and don't use gloves for scuba (exception of wrecks) since my run times are pretty short. With freediving though I'm in the water for several hours straight but operate a camera and sometimes a light.

Kind of late now but mitts sound interesting. What do they look like?

Ok. Thanks. Looks like overkill. Surprised you said more dexterity. Doesn't look very appealing. One of those things you have to try first I guess.

When you start wearing 5mm gloves you, essentialy, have 10mm of rubber inbetween your fingers. Given th thickness of rubber inbetween your fingers, the fact of having a few of them together actually makes it easier to move them- especially when using a camera, shooting a speargun, or trying to tie a knot.

I'll stick with what I have for now but you made some good points. I'll tuck that one away for reference. Should I ever see one down here I'll try it on.

I don't have a high-end housing with the levers. I have to push the little buttons. To start I cut the tips from the first finger and will try it out this weekend and go from there.

I've always wondered why some gloves dont have some sort of nub attached to the pointerfinger for the purpose of pushing buttons. I'm tempted to invent such a thing. Maybe a glob of aquaseal strategically placed...?
