D3 Suunto newbie!

Well I've managed to set the time and date!

I will study the manual! , but in theroy will I be able to ;

1) See the duration of a dive whilst on bottom.
2) Set an alarm for 1min? / 1.30min into a dive - (and can you hear this underwater)?
3) Look at the depth of the previous dive?
4) See the duration of time between dives?

At what depth do the sensors trigger?

Finally do not have a download cable. Can you browse your dives on the watch or is a pc link needed.

Yes, you'll see all that, and it will all be automatic with no action required by you

I think it goes to dive mode at a depth of 3 feet. Then you be able to read your present depth and time of the dive.

When you surface, the large numbers in the center will start from zero and show your surface interval. In the lower right corner you'll see the time of your last dive, and in the lower left corner you see either the depth of your last dive or the temperature. You depress the lower left button to toggle between those two.

I don't want an alarm scaring fish, so I disabled it and forgot about it. I don't think its useful for me anyway, as the maximum safe time for me varies so much with exertion, temperature, etc.

I don't have a cable either, and I'm not sure I could download to a Mac anyway, but I'm not interested in history. You can scroll through a history of your dives on the watch, but I never do that either, so I can't tell you how. You'll have to read the manual for that.

SpearoJoe, it was £85 but it is USED. They aren't cheap! I think they were around £145 ish when new but I could not find any one with stock as they were discontinued.

I seem to recall that some people criticised the D3's alarm for being too quiet. I certainly cannot hear mine when I'm in the sea with a 5mm hood on.

You can set the alarm for either depth or time.

I've been very pleased with my Suunto. Must have had it for about five years now and it has not been any trouble.

Agreed. Try hearing it with a 7 mm suit.. Not that the depth or time alarms were what I bought the D3 for, but it would have been nice to at least have the option. Apart for that, I have only good things to say about it.

Would it not be better if the large part of the display showed the dive time? Am I mis-understanding the instructions or is this correct?

No pav when you dive down the timer will be the numbers between the two black lines if you get me? with temp and depth there as well down in the corners

Just jump in and dive. It will be immediately apparent what each number means, with no confusion. There is no use beating yourself up trying to imagine what its going to look like.

Finally got in the water with the D3! Amazing watch!!
I hadn't accounted for the fact that it looks bigger under water with your mask on.

Really pleased. Will be a great tool to monitor dive times. 10c today!

Hey Pav. its worth giving the watch a good rinse in fresh water then patting it dry when you get out the water making sure the AC turns off otherwise its eats the batteries.

d3's are great spearo watches : )
