It is a must-dive destination for freedivers, and not expensive at all. Just getting there from NAmerica can be pricey, but once there it is dirt cheap. Sharm is expensive, but Dahab is off the track enough that it's still in the backwoods.
Walk out of your 20$/night ocean-front hotel (aircon/tv/breakfast) or a few minutes walk from the 5$ night off-beach hotels and you step into 15 to 40 metre walls covered in life.
