Hello Everyone,
I am a new member and also new to spearfishing. I tried spearfishing last weekend for the first time and am now (hooked on it). I used a Sea Hornet gun and really liked it. I will mostly be spearfishing in the Florida gulf and around Fla. and Ga. coast lines when I go. I know most of the spearfishing will be done on reef and wreck dives. My question "What will be the best universal gun to use on these dives?" I don't want to end up having different kinds of guns for different dive sights. I am clueless to gun types, rubbers, and shafts. One thing that I am certain of is I love spearfishing and can't wait to go again. I am a 225 lb. healthy male and should have no problems loading a gun. I would just like to have a good idea of a good accurate and dependable gun.
The gun I used was shooting the fish in the gills or just plain missing them. I am not blaming the gun by far. Like I said that was my first time spearfishing and I know I will be needing alot more practice. I did get a grouper and a trigger fish by the end of the dive. I just needed to get used to the gun. First time I used one.
Any suggestions would be helpful.

THANKS

Glad ou enjoyed your experience, that's awesome! :D

Quick question that'll help in reccomendations - are you freediving or using scuba?

Glad to see you`re hooked. Finally i might have someone else to go with. But you know it wasn`t my gun:confused: We just are terrible shots!just imagine if you would of got that big ole jew!luckily you missed again:D but was it the hunting or the beer on way home that hooked ya? call me tomorrow if you can go this weekend.check out the riffe mt1.

Gun

Get a RA railgun with twin 16mm rubbers from Florida freedivers and put a reel on it. Youll be glad you did

Mate if your hitting fish in the gills your very close to the perfect kill shot -just behind gills on lateral line or almost level with top of gills -on some fish anyway -there all built a bit different this should hit spine and put fish out of action
to aid you in getting a kill shot and also prevent spears getting stuck in recks by the flopper youcould use a pranger or 5 or 6 pronged cluster head these are very popular in Australia and hold fish well especially in the inch long prangers. aswell as having an area of about 2 inches in dia to hit spine with.

hi

Like he said get a Ra although with a Single 20mm rubber

cheers

lol Like Ivan said but go the double 16mm rubbers.. your on scuba.. you have plenty of time to pull them back.

Depending on your price barrier perhaps a RA Saracen would be nice. These have a carbon fibre barrel ect and are very flash. If not then look at the Rob Allen Sniper turbo.

hi

Hi dog mr 16mm man :D Im a 20mm man.

Whats with all these names of these railguns I think im a bit behind on that. My 1.1 gets called the small gun and the 150 the big gun simple but effective :D

Sniper Turbo Sacren :hmm

I wonder what our non technical old school South African friend would think of these names :D But like Griff said he already confuses everyone with his 135's and 145's. Aaaaabbbbbrrriiiiii where are you :waterwork

cheers
