DeeperBlue.com Announce 2015 UK Member Meet

Thread Status: Hello , There was no answer in this thread for more than 60 days.
It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.

I think we both misunderstood Jonny.
I am more and more sure that reference to "snorkelers that do not go deeper than 10m" was just a delicate go at Jersey boys.

So far this year the weather has miles better than the last three, lots of showers and plenty of sun but not to hot ... that is how I like it anyway.
I have not seen such a beautiful display of wild flowers for a long time & the fruit trees are full of blossom.
I expect the sea to be a lot clearer this summer than last year.

Now Edin, don't you go upsetting those Jersey boys again. Last time you did that Mike ran away and Cobus was nearly crying

lol. i think the guerns are more in that category. me included. it would actually be interesting to see how you guys who have deeper water skills would fare in the deeper water off st martins - what species you might find that have eluded me...

Mart i agree, this year so far i have seen many more fish than ever before that i have been spearoing, including elusive proper big bass and big pollack. heard of codling too...

What time of year would you expect Gilthead? Are we a touch early to be in with reasonable chance of seeing one?

I think they are now a "all year round fish"
They have been netted throughout the winter with lots around Jan, Feb time but they still seem pretty elusive for the rod guys until mid summer.

Are they netted on the S side more Mart?

Looking at that photo you posted Grant, I wonder if Stephan is stopping sponsoring Guernsey/DB meet 'cause Martyn poked him up the nose with speartip?

Actually it is you doing the poking!
Granti, nobody fishes the South coast much in the summer or winter but it is heavily netted in the Autumn for red mullet.
The giltheads are mainly caught in the North & North East but I might not be up to speed with recent commercial catches.
I will ask around for more info...

Interesting. - Hopefully see some this year

I remember a trip to St martins point with you and Jonny last year Grant. As I recall you loved the cliff walk back up and even got attacked by a couple of jack russels!
I am sure if Grant can make the walk back up Mike could run it.

It's ok for you big people !its deep for us little uns! its bad enough shooting fish that are bigger than ya !LOL.

To be honest I have lost count of who is coming and who is "now" not coming!

All the normal hassle with booking restaurants & our main diving venue out of bounds for the summer!

I was hoping to have both menus sorted by now but the Boathouse has yet to offer us one (although there is not a problem with the actual booking) The Rockmount seems to have had several changes of manager & although our booking seems safe there correspondence is terrible. I went down in person last week & was assured things were back in order but still no menu!
Hopefully Stephan is up to speed with numbers but I think we are now down a few competition divers?

Perhaps we can ask for a roll call?
I will start .... Sarah & I will be at all events
