sqnips,
I think I jumped on your head harder than was reasonable, my apologies. Looks like I fell into the mistake of assuming that information on my kind of diving was more widespread than it is. The almost infinite variety in freediving never fails to surprise me.
Recovery time:
for me, full lung, diving moderately deep or long dives, I came to like 3-4 times dive time. For frc diving, coming up from a long, relatively hard dive, I feel almost completely recovered in less than 30 seconds. Thats deceptive, of course, but twice dive time seems to work quite well.
Some threads on FRC:
Exhale(frc) adaptation
Thoughts on body adaptations to FRC diving
Exhale (FRC) adaptation
Apnea, vasoconstriction and cough
Poll: FRV/FRC(exhale diving)
FRC plus one ignorant "expert":
Diver vs Doctor
Oldest thread on FRC I could find:
FRC diving
I've been following the discussion with interest and it is pretty clear that there is quite a lot of ignorance of FRC and what makes it work. If you, or anybody else would like, I could post a summary of frc theory that might be easier than dredging through all these threads. Some of a the posts are pretty thick. Probably should be in a separate thread; we pretty well hijacked this one.
