I dunno how many mph but its faster than a swimmer with good fins (not mono). 
Well with plane I meant that the boat first raises the head under acceleration and then lowers it with gaining much more speed, the phase of lowering the head is planing(as far as I know).

aydýn, where did you catch that bass.. Looks good to me.. just like the bass here in the UK..
Last year towards the end of the year I found that Bass like that formed great schools of fish, but during summer they were individuals and very suspicious.. hard to catch.. doing Aspetto.. stalking if possible worked fine though..

Pekka,I have catched that bass at the north coast of Ýzmir,Yeni Foça,app.1 month ago.The place where we dive with my buddy Levent ,is very shallow ,ranges between 1-2 mt.s and a very big area.After 2 hours of diving withfull of aspettos in every4 minute,I have seen a big school of sea bass 1-3kg.s but they didn't come near to me,maybe something has gone wrong with my technique.Then I decided to come back although I was making aspettos on my way to my car. At one of these aspettos at 1 mt., I hide behind the black grass,app. at 30 seconds a little wondering sea bass nearly 0,5 kg. came,you know when you see a little bass there maybe bigger ones nearby,so I wait .Little one was making circles around me at the end the bigger bass appeared behind the grass from the left side moving very slowly,I just wait it to come close to me and hiding my eyes,wait,wait and I just shot ap. from 1 mt.. It was a really good shot, the spear enter the bass from his right eye.
After one week I have shot a little bigger one which Ý will post later when the photo of it is avaible..
In Turkey the migration of sea bass is nearly same with UK.Now we are waiting the schools are coming from the Black Sea to the Northern Aegean Sea.After two weeks I can post new bass photos I think..
