Dive buddies in Dahab - Jan to May 2012

Hi Dahab Freedivers

I've just moved to Dahab and will be staying for 5 months. I'm looking for some dive buddies to train with. Please PM me if you are interested.

My first month in Dahab has been great. I had two good regular training buddies, Leif and Joseph. Leif set some new PBs and Josef dived to the bottom of the Blue Hole. Here they are diving Bells for fun: [ame=http://youtu.be/xA9Q9PiAzw4]Freediving the Bells in Dahab - YouTube[/ame]

Both have left Dahab now, so I'm looking for some new dive buddies for this month. March and April will be no problem as there will be lots of freedivers in Dahab to train with. Let me know when you get here.

I will come to Dahab with two other freedivers but i fear that at least two of them would be not as good as you seem to be.

goals for us are about 40m down, statics about 4-5 min.

A lot of freedivers are starting to arrive in Dahab now. Feb was a quiet month, but there are more than enough dive buddies to hook up with at the moment. Bring rope! You can get cheap buoys and weights here, but good diving rope is scarce.

Let me know when you are here and we can meet at Aqua Marina. I can introduce you to some other freedivers who are training here. Almost always good to meet and socialise with other freedivers.

BTW what about weights and buoys? how expensive?

15 LE for 1kg in most dive shops, but Jonnas (german guy) just got it for I think 12 LE at the scuba store closest to the German Bakery at Lighthouse. The same shop sells freediving buoys for 340 LE including inner tube. The tailor down the road has buoys for cheaper (260 LE if I remember correctly) and better quality, but without the inner tube. Freedive Dahab have the Neptune buoys, but I don't know the price.

i think we will be at the blue hole on friday.
you will recognize us with the orange beuchat buoy and elios suit ( ) . probably we will start at around 10:30. just say hi . or write a sign with "deeper blue" on

Cool, I'll also be at the Blue Hole on Friday. Unfortunately we don't have space for another diver on the buoy on Friday (more than 3 and you get too cold before you can get your dives in), but I can introduce you guys to some other freedivers training here at the moment which will make it easier to find training buddies.

Simon, did you dive today at the Blue Hole? I saw some divers going in with an orange buoy right after we got out.

i can meet you guys on friday. does anyone want to split the cost of the taxi there? also i have a buoy with a 65m rope and 10kg bottom weight that i can bring if it helps with numbers?

yes we were there on tuesday, orange buoy blue camouflouge elios and just blue elios suit, one guy with monofin and one with stereo fins (me).
