dive log from day 1 of training

Thread Status: Hello , There was no answer in this thread for more than 60 days.
It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.
i have been an isomniac as far back as i can remember anyway.

i think my dive computer is fucked if not i just did over double the world recordrofl
apparently i dived 2.9 m (sure it was more like 10) and stayed there for 18 minutes woo go merofl
unfortunatly that dive computer is 300 pounds:rcardmust get it serviced

hi again,

You say that you are light headed before the start of your breath hold???
You may be slightly hypercapnic (through hyperventilating) try to do only 4 breaths a min, say a 5-8 sec inhale and twice as long exhale, not a fast inhale as I think you may be doing??
do you feel any tingling in your fingers??
Hope the training goes well and if you are not feeling to great then just give it a rest as it will be more benifitial to you.
Take care out there training on your own and please dont push it when you have no buddies.
it only takes a second to bo and thats it ....................................

No second chance

thanx tecdave but when i said im light headed before i start i mean ive been light headed for two days, although it has never lasted this long before i very frequently get spells of lightheadedness,

Doesn't sound very healthy or safe - have you ever fainted? What causes this light-headedness?

my guess is aneamia tho i have never tested for it, being vegetarian it is a likely cause (lack of iron)
i have never fainted to the point of actually blacking out, well not for long just a few seconds.
surprised the hospital havent tested me for it actually they did a blood test for a blocked artery in my foot or somthing like that they didnt explain it very well and i blacked out after giving very little blood.

1) breathign up for 5 minutes
2) held 1 minute 37
3) bretahing up for 5 minutes
4) held for 2 minute 8

bit less than teh other day but still around the 2 minute mark so not bad

training in sea later

too keep it together i have quated my previous post

went to the beach visabilty was appauling couldnt read my watch infront of my face.
did it more for leaisure than for trainign in the end

dived down to what seemed like 10m tho perhaps it was less i am just judging from my scuba diving as you may know if uve read all this thread that my dive computer is giving funny readings today.

what i saw:

i think i need to change dive sites, i didnt even see a nice looking pebble and saw more life in the rock pools tho i did literally have to stick things in my face to see what they were.

dive time:

dive computer says 18 minutesrofl
id predict 40-60 seconds

dive depth:

computer read 2.9 m

the time it took me to get down i would say it was 10m tho i wasnt weighted and didnt kick much so im unsure

what i learnt:

1) i need to change dive sites
2) its great fun scaring ppl by swimmig nup the them when they cant see you and launching youself as high out of the water as you can right next to them.
3) dont rely of body weight to get you down firther than a meter you need to kick!!

what i achieved:

1) well i cant really judge distance but ppl were impressed by the distance i could swim underwater^_^ as i over heard girls talking about it and my friend said it was impressive.
2) although i predict my dive time to being quite short i did this with no struggling whatsoever so know i could stay down longer if i wanted to but there was nothign to see except silt so there really wasnt much point

decided to modify my training slightly, instead of 5 minute breath ups i did just one minute, this is becasue i find when in the water i am not comfortable doing breathups for very long. also i will be doing many more breath hodls each day because in the water dive repeatidly. i also move about a little bit like i do under the water.
essentially instead of increasing my max breath hold i am trying to improve my dynamic hold tryign to keep everything as close to my behaviour when im actually in the sea.

breath up one minute
held 50 seconds
breath up one minute
held 1 minute 30
breath up one minute
1 minute 10
breath up 1 minute
held 1 minute 30 with 20 seconds of that on empty lungs
breath up 1 minute
breath held 47 seconds

rest 5 minutes

decided to combine my old rutine of 5 minute breath ups as 1 minute appears to not be enough for me to recover but may contiue to do both sets of trainig each day unless advised othwerwise to get my body used to short recovery times.

breath up 5 minutes
held 1 minute 55
breath up 5 minutes
held 2 minute 7 seconds

decided to call it a day

been having difficulty keeping the air in my lungs, didnt do a structured trainig ntoday tho i may do a table later.
instead today i was just breathholding with no rests trying to beath that one minute thirty mark, only after i decided to do a four minute breath up did i manage to break this mark and reach 2 minute 5 seconds.
need to break the two minute 20 barrier now which has been my personal best to date.

havent posted for a few days, but went down the beach yesterday and was doing dynamic under the water for 50 seconds at a time before any discomfort came in^_^
just had to release every tension in my body and do breathups while i was snorkelling, saw a school of fish one other fish loads of sea enemies plus one crab.
can now feel extremely relaxed under the water, atleast untill a great big wave comes from nowhere and smashed me into a rock.

now i do need a dive buddy not becasue of swb but because when i lifted my head up after snorkelign and free diving i realised i was much further out that expected and wasnt even on the same beach i started at, there is another small secluded bay just round fro mthe beach i started in but didnt expect to see myself there when i looekd up^_^

went to london for the weekend and had nothing better to do during the car journey as a passenger than practice my breathold.

reached a new personal best of 2 mnute 45

one breatholds seem to fly by with me thinkign i have only held my breath for twenty seconds but by 1 minute 45 i feel like i have held it for way longer than i actually have. and often thought id broken the 3 minute barrier when i wasnt even newhere near my current maximum
