When I was young I had ear surgery and because of that I never learned to swim. I've always wanted to go diving and that's why I'm posting here today because I have a problem. My problem is that I had the ear surgery done at a super young age and today I can't equalize my right ear because i feel like they messed up my ear. When I try to equalize my ear unlike my left ear my right can't equalize. The air goes straight out of my ear unlike most ears. Has anyone have this issue before? Is this common? Is there anyway to dive with an ear like this? Do I need surgery done?
When I try to swim, the moment water gets into my ear it feels like I am getting stabbed in my right inner ear. I am currently swimming with ear plugs but I don't think you can dive with earplugs since you need to equalize your ear so I'm at a loss as what I need to do.
