I would like to go on a advanced open water course in Sharm but have not been diving since my partner died (unrelated to diving). I need somewhere that will be understanding as I will have to get back up to speed as it has now been 2 years.
Any suggestions? There are so many places I don't know where to start.

Allison,

Malcolm is right, I do dive the region at least once a year (more like twice a year at the moment).

To be honest Sharm is very commercialised at the moment and there are a lot of very good dive centres out there. Your best bet is to give the dive centre a ring before you book and explain to them your situation, then ask them how they will accomodate you.

If you do not get a satisfactory answer, strike them off the list!! I believe you are based in the UK, and if that is the case, buy the latest copy of DIVE or DIVER and look through the big name operators (like Goldenjoy, Hayes & Jarvis, etc...) that advertise in there...contact them and find out which dive centres they use - then contact the centre directly...don't be satisfied with the UK operators answer, always get a direct response.

I hope this helps, if you want any further advice, drop me a private email or call me on 01883 723101.

Anyway, I hope you will consider telling us how you got on!

Good Luck...
