I recently bought a pair of picasso "power fins" after breaking a blade on a pair of beuchat fins I had. They are described as med-hard on the sellers website and on picasso's website. Unfortunately they aren't hard at all. They are so soft that they are almost unusable. I thought the would be like the old "black team" picasso fins but they aren't like those at all. I'm taking with the seller about exchanging them but I'm not sure what to change to.
I used a set of omer millenium fins for about 10 years but the newer fins don't seem to be of the same quality. I still use the footpockets from these fins with some fibreglass blades I have and they must be over 15 years old. The current omer plastic fins seem to have thinner/softer plastic and I doubt I'd get similar longevity out of them.
I had a set of cressi gara 3000 fins for about 7 years but these were a bit on the soft side and eventually broke. I'd get these again but the only make the LD variant now and they are softer. I was thinking about the cressi gara hf2000 fins but local sellers don't have them and if I order online I want to avoid problems like with the picassos. Any one know if these are a good fin? Can they handle a bit of punishment?
The beuchat fins I had where the "mundial elite" type and i liked these but they were a but softer than I generally like and the blade broke after owning them only 18 months. I've had fins last much longer than this in the past and I'm reluctant to buy them again unless I can't find a better option.
The cynic in me suspects companies aren't making quality plastic fins anymore to push people into buying more expensive fibre/carbon fins. The old picasso and Omer fins used to be bullet proof and friends and I had set that lasted years. If someone could point me in the direction of a modern equivalent It would be much appreciated.
