I equalize hand free by nature. I have yet learn diving deeper than my RV which is about 28m feeling nothing left. From what I read the mouth filled is the technique to use after that. Is there a way to take advantage of hand free equalization in deeper dive or somehow mix it with the mouth filled ?

Does BTV equalization help diving under residual volume ?

BTV will if course help you at any depth if you can master it.
However, 28m seems very shallow to hit residual volume. We what this tells me is that you are not using the correct equalizing technique, that is you are using Valsalva which is less and less effective the deeper you go. What you should be doing is Frenzel.
Do some research on Frenzel and practice practice practice until it is second nature.
