DOL-FIN HP as first monofin ?

Thread Status: Hello , There was no answer in this thread for more than 60 days.
It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.
Lucky you Connor. I emailed Ron and asked if I could demo one before I bought it. Been doing some crazy wreck diving as of late and thought it might be a cool toy. He told me that there weren't any available. I told him to name his price for the demo and he never replied back to me. :( Let me know how it goes.
Ps. I just found a private message from months ago that you sent me. I'm an idiot. Sorry for not getting back to you....

The second X18 prototype just sold via auction for $18,650. Talk about high demand. Luckily the production ones are under a grand!

I just received an X20 to test. Will be diving with it this week.

galpi, I agree with Ron about the shoes. This eliminates the side slipping issues that your friend encountered with the HP. I tried the X18 prototype (which is now the X20) and Orca this summer and found the X18 with the cycling shoes a lot easier to control, even easier than the Orca.

I'm looking forward to seeing how close in performance the X20 can get to the Orca. :t

Cheers,

Pete

What kind of auction, ebay?

That's just amazing and I am happy for Ron, this is good start to new sales..

Anyway, I offer $3,650 savings and I am selling brand new X20 I just ordered for only $15,000 American.

Ron please send me two more, I am sending the check:)

So what is the latest in opinions on monofins? Ive watched video of the x-20. It looks cool but it looks like it requires a high-frequency. I'm all about slow kicks with my bifins.

Looking back, I see I forgot to post my experience in this thread. Look through Revans thread and the one about modifications to the Dol-fin.

In general, I'm highly pleased. The fin is so extremely adaptable to almost all of my kind of diving and has been tolerant of my long learning curve on decent dolfin kick technique. Once I got the buoyancy dialed in and learned how to make a proper neck weight, all problems have disappeared.

On kick frequency, I find it works very well with low intensity relatively high frequency kicks. However, this may be more related to my technique than the fin. I've been experimenting with the double kick and glide, as seen in most dynamic videos. After I finally began to have a decent undulation, this technique works well and, I think, is considered low frequency. Bottom line: the fin does either just fine. Your choice.
