I agree with everthing you wrote. I see thousands of legal size Bass & only a few breeding size - makes sense to leave the big ones to breed if you really care. Jay if you say they were legal that's good enough for me, you have been spearin long enough to know. (not a good pic I agree).

The fact of the matter is we cant please everyone all of the time. In the past we have had this debate pop up and it gets out of hand very quickly

line in the sand time i feel people...if he says they are legal, they are legal..end of...everyone has their own opinions about what we catch, but its down to the individual at the end of the day....we all enjoy spearfishing, so lets enjoy it!!! come on its friday!

Ok then people as Scottwilson has said on here Deeper Blue is the LAW!
As most of you know Glowworm is a very good friend of mine and Wolf_diver is a very good friend of a very good friend of mine so this is more than a little difficult for me but-
Any more grief on the forums after this post and when I get to work tomorrow morning I WILL DELETE THE POSTS from whoever made them.
Now PLEASE can we carry on as we almost always have, in a civilised manner with NO name calling or grief.

Just for the record I'm with Gloworm too on this. I've shot small but legal fish after misjudging the size but I've always felt bad about it. I also feel guilty whenever I shoot any bass over 8lbs.
I can honestly say I've deliberately left big fish alive a lot more often than I've killed small fish. I think we should leave this discussion here as its doing no good to the forum or the sport and I'd hate for members to leave or be booted out.
My two pennorth for what it's worth.

The Dorset thread is very well read & generally a friendly place so I am afraid to say enough is enough!

If anyone would like to carry on a discussion about fish size limits then start a new thread on the main forum pages.

This debate is finished - further post on the subject will be removed.

Neaps will add more depth to the chart depth and including you depth of water at 3/2 hours before HT will give you around 6m of water below you. Shelter from the swell and wind behind the bank which give you boat best cover. If you need gps numbers give me a shout, when in doubt dont stay there.

Stand by, Will get the lat n long for you just now. I could get one of the work ribs for a weekend with a bit of grovelling. Two 250 hp engines manly enough for you????

Still got it mate. It's not been in the water much, partly because I was still tinkering with it, and partly because I've been finding plenty of fish along the shore recently (although it's good to go now, so I'll probably be heading out in it a bit more often).

Not sure that I would trust it out at the Shambles though (well, not yet anyway). I'd only need to lose the engine at the point when the tide was picking up and I could be in all sorts of trouble - don't really want to be practicing my capsize drills out there!

Maybe if there was another boat, so that we could offer each other mutual support . . . something to think about.


Have you given up spearfishing, or something? The forum is usually plastered with pictures of your outstanding catches at this time of year.

I think you'll be lucky to pull that off mate. I tried to go down that route once and got laughed out of the office - things have changed!

Mind you, if you could manage it I'd be happy to stay out when the races pick up - great fun!

OK Gaz here we go (Shambles Bank)

(A) 50.30'.3N 002.23'7W Heading 080 degrees to (B) 50.30'.4N 002.22'.6W Heading 260 degrees back to (A) approx 1 nautical mile between points.

Check these numbers first mate, its been a while plotting stuff for me. Can get the Rib dont you worry lol, we can get some big air after spearo.....
