Greetings good people. Portland is like soup in most places but there are a few fish about. Good sized Lobbys about too.

I am heading over Dorset way and am looking at getting in the water in the morning of the 11th someplace-I have my eyes set on a particular spot but if anyone is out and about and fancies helping a relative newbie out please drop me a p.m. as I would be more than happy to meet up.

Hi there, I am new to this site and I was wondering if there was anobody who could tell me where I can find rules and regs for spear fishing around Vancouver Island. I woiuld like to get into it more and just want to make sure I am not going to be breaking any laws when I take my gun out. Thanks

So seriously (not sarcastically), are you posting in the wrong thread or is that a several thousand mile swim from the south coast of the UK to Canada or is there a Vancouver Island in Dorset?

Sorry couldn't make it yesterday, would've been good to meet you all but I had guests staying.
Still, went for a dip down at Beer yesterday and spent a happy hour surrounded by huge shoals of pollack. I think they were a bit small (although I don't think I'm very good at judging size when in the water as I often shoot a fish and then once I pull it in I find it's much bigger than I thought it was) so I didn't take any of them. Came back with a very large wrasse for a fish curry tonight.
Took a shot at a bass but missed. Damn.
Great reefs at Beer and really good visibility - most of the time I was diving to around 8m and could see the bottom from the surface. Lovely.
