hey I.m heading down to Poole harbour for a lifeboat course. I was hoping to get in somewhere around the harbour. What do you reckon? I know people don't like giving spots so general locations would be really helpful. Or just any comments.

Sorry fella I would love to join you but heading back up north tomoz to see family and friends. Taking my dive stuff though as my brother has scouted a good few spots up in the scottish borders to raid. I'm a bit nervous now tho having not been in since my 10lb'er.....I don't want to be disappointed if i don't get anything larger

I have an L4 & I am 5'10" & about a 42" chest, I thought we were about the same height, if not me slightly taller.
Anyway i did go for a larger size Cressi initially, but found it was massive on me, so if you have sizes that compare well with the chart, then go one size smaller, or 2 in my case,although tight, but fits well now after a stone loss in winter weight now.
Right well i got impatient and ordered the Tecnica suit from Scubastore, went for size 6 as i seemed to have grown a few inches over the last week so good to hear its better ordering on the small size.
Had read of all the horror stories about Scubastore and made sure that it was in stock when I ordered..... got a shock this morning to find on the website it says shipping in 3 days... however just checked the order tracking and its now been shipped

Lets hope it is a perfect pairing with the 75 comanche I own.

Just back from a nice dip, three nice bass and good viz. Asked to park in a pub car park, promised I would have a pint of the black stuff when I got out. It was a good pint too!!!
finished with a big shoal of bass passing just out of range and the light fading to black!!!

Nice one mate. Glad you managed to find some vis. I've had two crappy dives this week one in thick fog at night with a strong tide and thus spent the night saving my brothers life after he was taken by the tide out into the blue ; not a pleasant expierience.
Just got back today from a two day juant to south devon with no vis!!!!
Back in first light tomoro.

(Scoobaru) Getting ear problems are frustrating, But your doing the right thing giving it time to heal. Just went to a place with good moving water, not even that deep.(Speerolee) Fog and fast water, that sounds brave. Sounds like we where is a similar place. Not double numbers fish that I want this year, put they will help lighten the food bill this week which is what my family is all about. So will the Deer I shot wast week, as he has sat in the chiller for a week and is ready for the knife!!! Oh and pheasant season is just over the hill, so dust off the double barrel and break out the clays I reckon.

In the end though, I had to begrudgingly give you some Look forward to the next adventure - happy days.@wolf yea I know what your saying mate, that's why I haven't been in in nearly two weeks as I don't want to make it worse, but it is frustrating especially reading dive reports and living 2minutes from the sea. But hopefully next week I should be back in the water equipped with my new docs proplugs.

That's kind - Species...Anything edible, but a silver would be fantastic! Though I think you underestimate the power of the spearfishing curse that is upon me. I think of the sea, and the winds pick up to 30mph, I get kitted up and the fish instantly leave for deeper water (have no idea why - I'm a useless shot) and when I get in, the seas start to boil producing 6ft waves, making any kind of sensible exit impossible.
Hoping to go for a few dives with Wolf and SeanK this weekend/week so I have my fingers crossed for a first silver...

Ha ha sounds like a challenge. You wanna look at it as you make your own luck, and a lot of that is down to putting the hours in. I used to be very unlucky with shore angling, I'd go and no one would catch, even at locations that were producing hundreds of fish. So I kept chipping away and spending more hours fishing until everyone started catching....... And then finally I started catching. So now I believe you make your own luck, but I think the right mindset is also important. If you think you are gunna catch nothing, then there's a good chance you will catch nothing, but at the same time if you think you will catch a monster/loads of fish you sometimes believe it so much you expect it, and again come home disappointed. If you go out to get away from everything, and just enjoy the sea and the small fish swimming around there's a good chance you'll catch.
Keep up the good work and keep getting some wet hours in and you'll soon come home with fish.

It's always been frowned upon at kimmeridge as its a voluntary nature reserve. But apparently if you chose to ignore the voluntary part and go anyway you could get banned from the smedmore estate who own the land. So probably put it up as a warning to people unaware of the nature reserve
It doesn't help that someone dropped a loaded speargun in the bay and it hasn't been recovered... Basically they're trying to run it as a marine park and encourage kids to snorkel. They do own much of the shoreline around there and if they see you coming in with fish and a speargun you'll get a ban.
