Glad you had a good dive and are not too put off by our beautiful British weather! Hopefully see you out and about some time.

I failed to get in over the weekend as well due to vis, ikea and rearranging the lounge thanks to ikea and the Mrs' insistance it will fit lol. (She always underestimates size.. That's my excuse at least!) However after feeling bad she nade me miss a dive we now have a plan worked out that works for me but likely not the rest of the world, Tues after work and anytime Fridays are my gratis dive days to be utilised without fear of reprisal.. Weekends by prior negotiation only! That said tomorrow eve is already up the spout but by my own doing, I do however have the day off so tomorrow day may be a go if I can find vis!

I'll give you a call Friday as I'll be finishing at 12:30 and free from then. I'm gunna try reverse psychology and say hopefully the weather will be horrible with 40mph winds, rain, thunder and lightning.......... After all it is "summer time" in the uk now.

Lmao I am expecting maintenance of rain all week but wind staying as is in which case I will be hopeful of finding vis, should be well up for it as having another massage and back cracking session Friday morning!

Just thought I'd take the time to apologise for the bad weather conditions.

I had this week booked off from work and my new Beuchat Marlin Prestige 5mm suit has just arrived. Of course the weather would be crap wouldn't it!

Didn't get in over the weekend due to lack of vis.

With my boredom I decided to build a nice garden pond instead and filled it with koi and a sturgeon.

Was all good until I caught my 3 month old son with my speargun in hand heading out to the pond.

Went in last night for a dive. Vis was around 3-4m but did get worse as the tide ebbed more. Will post up a full report later

Weather permitting we will be down to Dorset for our first ever visit and first ever spearfishing attempt this weekend Quite fancy having a look round Portland Harbor as it should be sheltered. Quick question, where is the best spot to park and get in the water?

Vis when I passed this afternoon looked 2-3m, in the harbour didn't look outside but wind was picking up.
As for where to get in for a first try I would suggest Sandsfoot or Castle Cove but mostly I would suggest meeting up with one of us local lads to show you. The ropes, when are you down and planning a dive?

So went in for a Dive last night with a buddy. The Vis was between 3-4m and the tide was ebbing fiercely. There were a few baitfish in the water and loads of small pollack. I saw a silver flash just out of range. Then I saw another silver flash in some weed so I raised my gun and shot where I saw it. That was a nice 1.5lb pollack on my stringer, not a bad fish to christen my gun with either. Drifting down with the current I saw the reflection of two decent sized bream (most probably guiltheads as black bream aren't very common where I was diving) about 3-4lb each. I struggled to move my gun in the current and managed to scare the fish off. The same thing then happened again an again with two bass around 4lb. Moving out of the current I saw a small bass (sizeable but not my normal taking size) but I shot it anyway as my nan loves the smaller bass. So I added a bass of around 1.5-2lb onto the stringer. In the shallows I saw about 13 tiny bass that I let swim on by. I saw my first sole which was very small but interesting to watch, followed by another two of similar size and an undersized plaice. I then stumbled upon a large flounder, and decided to stab it, unfortunately it ripped off the spear, but luckily it swam straight into me, so bear hugging it I added that to the stringer aswel. By now it was getting late so I decided I head in, I swam past more undersized bass and two small silver eels.

Overall a very pleasant dive, with lots of marine life about. A bit gutted about the bream an larger bass but out again tonight to try and have another crack at them. The flounder weighed 1.9lb but is very thin so would have gone a lot bigger in season

So I Got wet again last night to try and. Arch those elusive bream, with no success. The tide was considerably stronger and the wind what picked up which stirred up the Vis a bit (now 2m with 3m in random patches) and also made the tide flow a lot harder. I tried finding the area I saw the fish, but overshot it in the tide, which then carried me quite a way out.......... Quite scary at night : s

We saw the small bass and flatties again but nothing bigger for me. My friend caught a bass of 3-4lb but that was all we came home with between us

Yeah me too! Let me know if you need a fossil buddy. I have a few hammers and a car. lol

This summer better sort it's self out. better conditions at the end of this month apparently. Fingers crossed!

We've had to put up with this weather on and off for the last few weeks. Wind constantly changing direction ruining any Vis we had, and it calms down but then gets windy again just before the weekend.
