They are incredibly powerful fish... just imagine what the Norwegian record pollack must have felt like... all 12.2 kilos of it! Only regular species I can think that fights harder is a coalie of same size, they are proper psycho.

went for a dip down chesil this afternoon.. Water was very pleasant considering the wetsuit im borrowing at the moment(3mm surf suit).

Was a bit of a swell and the vis was sssshhhhh!!! Came home with a few frying pan sized pollack..Fancied the pollack as ive never eaten them before. And they werent half bad either..very brittle though.

Noticed 3 other spearos going in after i got out? If they're members on here, How did you get on??

Mmmmm....I have a silly idea after reading the Guernsey thread to maybe go for a night dive at Boscombe Pier...should I, should'nt I:head...it's cold...flatfish....Mmmm:p

Cisco_kid -- Yes we saw you emerging with your bag of goodies! We didn't fair much better than you, two got a few nice pollack and one (me) came home with nothing.. Although I did see a nice red mullet in the distance. I thought the vis wasn't too bad in the Cove, good hunting conditions - it did get very bad towards Tarr Rocks.. Here's to next time--- :)

I walked past with the dog and laughed. If I'd have known it was you John I would have thrown some rocks. :)

Well it was cold! And I drew a blank in the slight easterly conditions which had already murked it up quite a lot. Quite eerie diving under and around the Boscombe pier at the moment with all the cranes etc...Like you Flyflicker...here's to next time!

Ive never dived that part of the beach before. Was quite suprised by the terrain down there. And the huge pipe trailing across..

Went down again today. Swam a bit futher round the corner, vis was alot better, and there was a little less swell. Came home with a nice mullet. Not much else to be seen though..

Dived osmington this morning and the vis was upto 4 meters when i got in but a stiff easterly brought up some waves and a swell.Had an amazing dive split between looking for flatties and looking in caves and holes along the reef for bass.Shot and lost a 5lb + bass which was very upsetting as i had not only shot the bass but my spear had gone through a kelp strand at the base. Also found a lost lobster pot full of dead lobster and crab a very disturbing find.Spent most of the dive checking out new ground for next year and spent over 3 hours in the water even though my car said the outside air temp was 3 deg when i got in.

A few weeks back i shot a Golden Grey Mullet and while de-scaling it it stabbed my right thumb on its dorsal spines. The last three weeks my right thumb has been slightly swollen and sore.

This afternoon the culprit came to the surface.Don't know who clear the picture will be but it was the top of the spine left in my finger.

Boy am i going to enjoy every mouthfull of that fishroflrofl

That reminds me...
A week or so ago, I was down my local spot off the south east side of Portland. I saw the biggest fish i'd ever seen in the area..I havent a clue what it was, as this vis at the time wasnt to great. But it was very shiney(tuna shiney).

Any ideas what it could of been?

Was it about 3 meters long and Mako Shark shaped???:p:):)

Just back from 2 weeks in mallorca ,would recommend it to everyone . Air temp 24c water temp 23c ! Could stay in for 2 hours with just shorts on . Did'nt take gun but will next time . Saw several octopi & all types of fish ranging from ones you usually see in a fish tank up to a 4 foot barracuda with mean looking teeth . If anybody gets the chance go to Sant Elm on the southwest coast . Leave the family on the beach & head out for the island in the middle of the bay . Vis is amazing & no currents to worry about . Bit depressing landing back in Bournemouth to temp of 10c & easterly wind !

Its them damm tug drivers again!

Don’t they spend most of their time pissed, or the one I know does, right Bryn.:)

How's them RED eyes and you owe me a new Canary as the one at work has been found dead!rofl:fridayrofl
