You had better hurry Will, got a plaice & 2 red mullet tonight! Went out with Glowworm, saw blonde rays, tiny sole and zillions of smelt -- great evening - see you soon John..

i saw one of those the other day, and it was quite long. i tried to take a photo of it but the flash kept ruining the shot.
i also saw another fish like it but it was long and orange but very thin, like an eel, but it was only 20cm long at the most, i am pretty sure it was a pipefish.

thats the one then, it was swimming exactly like the one shown in the video. wish i had taken a photo now.

Hay flyfliker good catch....hows comes you didnt shoot the blonde ray? they taste NICE???

Hey Jimy you may have a point but they are also the most disgusting things to handle let alone prepare for the table! We see lots over here but very rarely do I here of one being taken.

Hi Jimy

Once you have shot a ray and filleted it, you will swear to never shoot one again - I promise you! Not sure if your a fisherman, but they are like what freshwater bream are to roach!

Cheers
John

A local coach just told me his friend caught a huge bass (and lots of mackeral) angling from a boat off Dorset last weekend. Sounds like it was a bumper weekend for big bass. Forecast looked windy this weekend so was surprised to hear the water is clear (but as Flyflicker said, its coming from shore). Monday looks promising (1mph at Swanage). Just started getting treatment for an ear infection (Otomize - good stuff) & possible fluid in the ear:crutch -- not supposed to dive this week but it started on holiday in August, so already over the worst of it.

Went in with FearTheSpear at about 9:45 on East Side; good tide ripping through, so we decided to ride the with the tide for a while.. Vis was brilliant and a mullet soon came into my sights, got him and nice fat'un it was as well

Down with the tide - shoals & shoals of mullet, but one is enough - still no signs of a bass. Into the shallows for a bit of creeping about and down amongst the weed I went - in came the pollack, then the turbo mullet and a GOOD bass; I reacted and it was off in a flash - bum!

Cruised a sand patch in the hope of a plaice or ?, but none were at home; time now 12:30 and still not really cold, but time to head in.. Buzzed by another shoal of mullet, oh go on then, got me another fat'un!

Fear saw too GOOD bass but they never came into range...

It was an excellent dive, good vis and warm waters - good luck tomorrow guys

Crap! I'm really jealous the sea has been complete faeces here for weeks!

Glad you had a good time though

Well it just so happens that Almost and myself had a dip around that area today, and yes it was windy with a bit of tide running.
Swam for what seemed like 5 miles with the end results of-
Almost a NICE Plaice, flounder and a sack of Scallops and me f**cking aching legs and just the Scallops.
Nice day out though and I did treat myself to a new Cressi camo wetsuit.
Brett it’s getting colder but not quite that cold YET.rofl
