And who was that said I ate all the pies?rofl
That is one fat fish!

Just fatter than the UK record for spearing a bass! They are out there boys, go and get 'em! Does anyone here spear in the area where that fish was landed? All of you probably will now.................rofl

Needles is as close as I have got Spaniard. Should have gone around the corner! Some good reports from friends camping trips over there though.....ah well....summers coming.:t

Hi all

Went over to portland sail club got a load of oysters and a few scollops. Dived chesile cove as well but only one pollok taken. Saw a bass but wasnt shure of the size. Looking bak i think it was well over but hay.

Clever catch and nice report, Mr. X. I just hope it wasn't Pav's new glove...but anyway, if it doesn't make you bleed, it's not sport.
What kind of mullet was that? Grey, golden or that type of grey with flat head and marshmallow eyes?
Thanks guys. The cut was quite long & deep but thankfully clean. I washed it in Dettol & found a couple of products that helped avoid a trip to the A&R: large Elastoplast SilverHealing silver-coated plasters (silver has antibiotic properties) and Steri-strips - like stick on stitches. No it was not Pav's glove (which I was using), it was my previously intact left glove - hopefully repairable.

Not sure what kind of mullet it was. I've checked other fish but, as somebody else pointed out, some seem to exhibit characteristics of more that one of the 3-types. I wonder if these really are really distinct species or just fish with different "family" characteristics ("noses run in our family":D) that cross-breed. I've attached a picture of the gutted fish, perhaps you can make the determination? (They taste delicious:p & this one filled the old Belfast sink I use for cleaning).(Thin Lipped maybe?).

went looking for clear water today, took Dad in tow.... brown all round the Island. Ended up looking for scallops 'where there are no scallops' ;)and managed to get a bag, so did Dad, who also landed a nice 4lb Plaice....

Do we think that it may be a tad on the breezy side this weekend?
Any thoughts gents?:)

It's a great weekend for shoping and doing all those little jobs around the house - arse! :(

tis blowing hard down here gents..... like John said, great weekend for getting brownie points and going shoppping with the miss'..... mind you I'm busy with my band anyway, so still get out of shopping ;)

Well, i've got the lurgi (and have done well to dodge it for this long I recon!) so perhaps it is good timing...

If any of you chaps need a little inspiration look at that You Tube clip with a bloke spearing a 20lb bass...it is immense! If you can't find the link on DeeperBlue type in 'robalo' on the you tube search and select the one that says 'robalo 9.4 kg' (or similar)

See you in the water soon hopefully

Ben
