Hi George.
There is a couple of pages on this forum with lots of info on about gear etc.
I'm no expert at all, I'd probably suggest a 75cm gun to start with. Rubber weight belt, a decent suit is a must as that'll keep you warm and in the water for longer. I have a 5mm elios made to measure suit quite expensive. Others use cressi and some others. Guns-cressi (cheaper end), beauchat, rob Allen (more expensive) great guns though.
Cressi gara 200 or 2000 (can't remember off top of my head) fins are a good entry level fin.

Nice day it was! Calm, warm and very good vis under water - from 6 up to10m!!! We (me and my buddy) dove around St. Albans Head and Anvil Point using speed boat. Lots of Pollacks and Mullets seen. No bass! I speared 10 fish but nothing worth to use my camera.
We have seen two spearos with one buoy working close to cliff under St. Albans Head but there was no any boat. How did they get there? If by foot so they must be very fit guys.

Yep, quite a walk. 2 of us been at it this year and yesterday with a new mate hence no float and a surf suit, but he stayed right tight in the edge. Seen bits and pieces all over that area, nothing major but a mixed bag between us. Viz was awesome when we got in at low water, must have been 20-30ft, dropped on the incoming to maybe 10-12ft. Lots of pollock but they never quite get big enough, guess the proper 'uns are out offshore deeper.

A gear question - I've got an Apnea Venom 90 gun and want to take the handle out... so far I've failed the IQ test. The handle goes into the tube, but there's no obvious screw or anything holding it in, and yet it won't budge... Any advice very welcome!!
Here are a couple of photos of the join.

I am not sure it will come out fully, but if its the same as my venom, then there is a silver pin at the butt end of the gun, knock it out with a pin of punch. Try that for starters. I would post a picture, but I am off out.

Thanks mate, you're a gent. Unfortunately it must be a different model - I've taken out all the bits of metal that I can, but no joy... here's a more complete picture incase anyone has any inspiration!

Got in at the weekend around portland area. Vis was good at around 6m. Found this beauty at a remote spot; just shy of 10lb. Nailed him with my new Rob Allen double banded railgun gun , well happy with it....

Dropped in yesterday, vis wasn't very good 1-2m but nailed a nice fat mullet with my railgun

Yep......but one was a double...so that offends 'some' of the less fortunate

Nearly forgot about that one....several of your dives of late have been during the day......lol.....gotta say apart from jealousy I cannot really understand why people would complain!

I actually spend eay more time on daylight hours diving now than at night...
