Tuesday night at Kimmeridge Ledges - water 14 degrees Celsius, visibility very good, up to 10, in places 12m! Seen several Sea Bass up to 50cm and only one decent fish- 3,6kg (75cm) and lobsters a bit over 0.8kg each. Today I tend to try Swanage Bay or Old Harry's Rock. I'm not sure yet.

Another short vid here.

Please excuse the effects added to try to make the fish on the edge of viz appear more visible.

True about the lack of posts in this thread. It was interesting to see the number of quick responses when this was brought up a few weeks back, and now the dust has settled the posts are drying up.
Anyway, have a couple of torches now, so I'll be popping my night spearing cherry soon, any basic tips very welcome!

The forum statistics show we have more hits per day than ever before but for some reason, many members no longer make actual post!
Of course many forums world wide are being affected in the same way.
I don't know why this is happening.

Foxfish, that was my point. That there must a lot viewing the thread without posting themselves.

Below are listed my favorite sites for night sessions.
Access from the shore.
Studland South Beach, Old Harry, Swanage Bay and Durlston Bay give sometimes nice flatties, Bass, Gray Mullet, Red Mullet, lobsters and cuttlefish.
Lulworth Cove and Ringstead are easy to get in. I got from there many times nice fish and lobsters but many times got nothing as well.

Worbarrow Bay is very good for night and day spearing if is open to public but the gate is closed in the nights. Some colleagues stay there overnight. Van parked in Tyneham car park and after diving they have some kind of shelter until the wardens open the gate.
There are several good sites towards west, from Ringstead to West Bay but I don't drive so far anymore.

My best places are accessible only from boat. Unless you don't mind very long walks and even longer finnings.
Mupe Bay, Gad Cliff, Kimmeridge Ledges, Chapmans Poole, and Worbarrow Bay.

May I suggest first dives at a spot that has visible lights on shore somewhere. It can get pretty creepy and very disorientating in complete darkness.

After a washout in Brighton last weekend (vis about 1m) I am looking to venture further a field this weekend to get some good vis. . So looking at Dorset but the current weather forecast is showing a southerly for Sunday which means Swanage pier and Studland south Beach. I might try one in the morning, rest up and then try the other in the afternoon.

Anyone know what the vis is like at the moment. Your recent reports suggest it is good but it could have changed.

Ok looking at the forecast, I might try kimmeridge or Mupe first thing and then go to Swanage for the afternoon. Tempted to stay over and potter about in Lulworth at night.

I took the plunge on sunday expecting the worst and there was still about 3m vis until midmorning when the wind changed and the vis disappeared completely. Lulworth was a no-go so went home. I hope we can get a break in the weather before it gets too cold.

On a positive side I used my time to practise techniques and finally managed to equalise on the descent!!!!

Kudos for braving the winds by the way! I certainly won't entertain it for a while yet.

I was using a mini anchor for my float line which is normally closed. I dove down spent about a minute or so at teh bottom and when I cam back up I noticed my weight was dragging and my float was on it's way to France! I opened up the anchor after that, phew!
