How 'bout because I'm a Life Member of the NRA? Let's not talk about how many guns are in my safe and I've sold a lot of them off. I leave the image to your imagination.

What is it about americans and guns? :hmm
Does it make you feel safe? Or is it a hobby...like collecting stamps?
When you meet up for a drink with fellow NRA members do you discuss how good the latest bullets are at removing the backs of people's heads?

Sarge... however NZ has good summers.. heard from Pablo yesterday. He said its boiling! And he went kayaking and saw an orca with her calf!! nice one..

Ireland... hmm does not appeal to me at all and you can buy Guinness anywhere

We just figure the right of self defense comes right in with the right to life. We don't trust governments because we know that people in government are just as fallible as the rest of us so why give them authority over everything we do . . . like aromatheraputic oils?

I'm not going to argue though....my brother is a cop in SD and has a similar attitude so I've heard it all before. :duh

Ireland is not really that different from NZ.
In many respects it is very similar, I am able to watch whales just like in NZ here including Orca etc.
We had a bottlenose whale just 2 minutes drive from my office!
It is a small country with a relatively low population density and is an Island nation.
Spearfishing is not widely practised resulting in a decent population of inshore fish and shellfish.
NZ weather is OK maybe a little better, but if I need the sun Ryanair has flights to Spain for €15 I travelled to Italy for £0.01p , I couldn't do that from NZ.
I love NZ and always will but for now I earn way more than I could in NZ and have access to all of Europe very easily.
Guinness = hate that stuff, Murphys is the drink if you live in Cork.
anyway my choice of beer is Stella Artois.

Ireland is a beautiful country - I backpacked round when at college and had a brilliant time on the west coast, especially the ring of kerry and dingle.
We always have a great time when we go and stay with relatives, and if it didn't rain so much, I'd have moved there years ago!
I was honoured to attend my cousins wedding about 5 years ago when he married an australian girl. We had a joint hen/stag night and the amount of alcohol consumed was crazy........I was still hung over 2 days later at the wedding. God - the irish know how to party! :hungover

The West of Ireland, the Gaelic country, is one of those "I've gotta go there" places in the world. My daughter took a trek trip in South Island, NZ and was blown away by the countryside. Same story, some day "I've gotta go there".

I'm born and raised in NZ. Lived in Auckland for most of it but have seen every major city in the country from the top of the north to the very bottom of the south. As far as the weather goes its best in the top half of north island and as far as diving goes you'd want to stay away from the west coast. Best areas I believe are on the east coast of the north island from the Bay of Plenty region right up. The dive report section of wildblue.co.nz will give you a good insight into the best diving areas out from auckland which is where I dive.
As far as marine life goes I cant say i've got much to compare with but I can say that I have my boat moored in auckland and I often start to see whales and dolphins just a few hundred meters from the mooring.

Hi Garit
Thanks for that.. will check out the website now! I have friends living in NZ and they all rave about it. Understood that the salaries may not be on par with Europe, for example, but that's not the reason why we want to go there. Quality of life, is probably how I would describe it.
Will check out that area.. in the long term we would probably want to buy an existing dive shop or watersports centre.

try www.fishing.net too,its got a nice spearo forum.and hey sarge,we may have a bit of a restrictive political climate but its a hell of a lot easier to go hunting over here than in the states(i thought that might appeal to you...)
