Dublin Freediver/spearo

Thread Status: Hello , There was no answer in this thread for more than 90 days.
It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.
U won't get many guys willing to share their marks. It's a case of years of trial and error. All that looking in various places is great training too. How long are u at it?

Then what do we all talk about?
Im free diving a long time but only just got the gun.

Ill usually be around hook head in the summer but live in Dublin and looking for decent daay trips.

Karl

Just general Spearo talk about catches and methods etc. We organise trips up and down the country too. We never post our dive locations as it's too public and ever Tom, dick, Harry and have-goer will be diving the spots we spent years discovering.
There is a Spearo catch and cook comp in Sligo on the 18th. Ask Feargus for more details.
Oh and welcome to DB!!

You could always start around the Hook, have you never seen Pollock there ??
As regards to guys not coming straight out and telling you about THEIR marks, its just not the done thing,as a very keen Bass lure/fly fisherman, its taken me years to DISCOVER some of my marks and i dont want them cleaned out by someone that the only thing the've done is to switch on a laptop.
This is not mean spirited its just the way it is,welcome to the forum and happy hunting.

Andy

Karl,
Welcome to DB! Feel free also to follow more in detail all the activities in our Ireland subpage (2012) in: http://forums.deeperblue.com/uk-ireland/93519-ireland-spearing-2012-a-102.html

I´ll settled in Dublin myself for 4 years now and I spear for ....a long time now... :) Yep, Hook Head is nice but we wished to be a bit closer... Sandycove and Howth are good places, although my sugestion is to plan your dive in advance really well in this places since that huge currents are a daily routine. For that and if you are planning 2 hours diving, enter in water 1 hour before the peak of the tide (high or low) to reduce the risk of getting catched and spending all the time struggling against it and get out one hour after. If planned a 1 hour dive , enter 30 minutes before the peak and leave 30 after that peak...!

Since that we go "often" spend the weekends out of Dublin, what we usually do is to share expenses in order to reduce our costs in one hand to go spearfishing, and in the other hand we target places that both visibility and fish should be ok...!

Feel free to drop me a pm anytime.
