Hi all - curious to know if frog kicks or flutter kicks are more efficient or more preferred? I do a lot of pool length dynamics and i have been trying to focus on more relaxed not necessarily longer glides to have a nice enjoyable relaxed but efficient underwater swim. Any thoughts?

I don't think frog kicks are very efficient- and you can't really do them with fins on. For me the most relaxed kick is using my bi-fins together in a dolphin kick. I just "discovered" this and it seems a lot more efficient for me. I'd like to try a real monofin now.

Oh! I need to get some recommendations then on what type of fins to buy. I don't have any yet....Do you always use fins?

The only fins I have used are my Mako fiberglass. They suit me fine. I started out with the mediums because I have pretty strong legs. But they turned out to be to stiff - so I switched to soft. Soft is much better for me. Most freedivers will also probably recommend a soft.

Thank you Mark! I dont have strong legs so I will probably try for soft. I assume they can be pricey. Any recommendations?

The only fin I can recommend is the "Mako Competition Fiberglass Fin" - because that is the only one I have experience with. I like them, use them all the time for pool work. Mako has very reasonable prices and excellant customer service. makospearguns.com

I wonder if you're aware that DYN is dynamic with Fins and DNF is dynamic no Fins.
Your original question and this reply makes me think you don't differenciate between the 2 terms
