i was reading an artical about a record depth attempt. empty lung diving was metioned. i was wondering what this is. i think its diving with your lungs empty(as the name describes)but whats the point. it must be really really dangerous. the chance for blackout must be really high. thus not worth doing.
thanks for the infomation.

Yes it is dangerous, thats why you should only attempt it under strict supervision.

Basically a negative dive (empty lung) is done to trigger the dive reflex by simulating great depth. When the lungs are empty ie near minimum residual volume, a 3m dive will simulate a much deeper depth...

I'm sure Mr Fattah will be only too happy to trot out the actual figures. Or if you search for some of his posts you will find info on neg dives...

hi

Erik I reckon your article was the best there

cheers
