Sorry for this simple question:

What are the REAL benefits of empty lungs trainning, and how it must be performed (series? sets? How many times/week...)

thank you so much

ike

Empty lung DIVING entrains your blood shift, your diaphragm flexibility and your ear clearing abilities. Empty lung statics may help blood shift training a bit.

As to how how much to do? Anyones guess, but neither should be practiced without close supervision.

There are other threads on this subject here on DB - they may not have the appropriate title though. Have a look, I'm sure there was quite a lot of stuff on this....

Thank you so much ben!!
the only thing I didn´t get is the "entrains your blood shift"
Could you be more specific?

I'm also iterested in this, I can only manage holding my breath on empty lungs for about 30 seconds, I find it really uncomfortable. How important is it in training, and what is a good average time to aim for?

The thing to remember is regular exercise and training with empty lungs is the best way to achieve longer negative pressure dives. At first I couldn't do 15 seconds! BUT I just recently did a 51second negative @ 12fsw. Its all training, it'll come.

Of course, this is nothing compared to some of these superfreaks in here...

Tim,
How is your statistics coming along. I remembered in your posts you did a 4 minute dry static and was playing with turning the corner at 50 meters on your dynamic and going for 75. I like to keep you with what you are doing, because my numbers are pretty similar.
