HDC is situated along the beautiful Pacific coastline in the State of Oaxaca, Mexico adjacent to the Huatulco National Park protecting its waters. We are looking for a PADI Diving Instructor for our 5* PADI Instructor Development Center. Perfectly located within the SeaSoul Beach Club with an onsite pool to conduct training, and 5 minutes from the marina where we disembark from our purpose-built 10m dive boat to teach a full range of courses from DSD to Divemaster and lead guided tours to over 30 sites.

They will have a strong commitment to safety, a love for the underwater world, plus the ability to guide customers and teach courses in both Spanish and English and be able to inspire divers of all levels.
HDC offers a personalised and almost bespoke service with many guests returning each year. Many of our customers have limited experience or large gaps between dives, but we also receive many dive professionals and experienced divers that choose to dive with us. As a scuba Instructor with HDC, you will be responsible for conducting scuba diving courses, leading dives, and ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for all participants with varying experience levels. The job will start out as a seasonal role (November through April) but has the potential to grow into a full-time position as we look to expand our operations post season and plan within the summer months (our low season). Computer literacy, retail sales experience and administrative abilities will be advantageous.

Key responsibilities
- Conduct a full range of scuba diving training courses from DSD to Divemaster, most courses will be entry level such as DSD and Open Water during the peak season.
- Ensure the safety and wellbeing of participants during ALL training and diving related activities.
- Lead guided dives, showcasing local marine life, points of interest and underwater environments.
- Stay updated on the latest diving techniques, safety protocols, and industry trends.
- Promote and sell diving courses, trips, and equipment to existing and potential customers.
- Use dedicated software to maintain customer databases, make reservations, plan dive trips, track accurate billing and payments.
- Assist in organizing and participating in diving events and excursions.
- Assist with the coordination and logistics between the Dive Center, Marina, Dive Sites and training areas.
- Be able to move scuba tanks significant distances as well as the manual handling of items of up to 50lbs. Support tools and PPE are of course provided.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and certifications with knowledge and experience using the PADI Student Management Portal.
Requirements:
- Minimum rating of PADI OWSI or higher + EFRI in teaching status. We encourage new instructors to apply.
- Strong knowledge of diving safety protocols and emergency procedures.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build instant connections.
- Receptive and open to direct feedback
- Strong work ethic with the ability to work independently or in a small yet team-centered environment.
- Be comfortable using own initiative and take a proactive approach to duties.
- Must be fluent to teach and guide in both Spanish and English. Knowledge of any other additional language is a bonus.
- Full driving license with experience driving a vehicle with manual transmission.
- Full set of dive equipment.
- Be a Mexican National or hold a valid Mexican work permit.

Additional Information:
- Full-time position 6 days/week, 8am-5pm with Sundays off each week.
- Daily work schedule reflects 2-tank dive trip or instructing courses in the mornings, with the afternoons dedicated to DSD pool sessions, administrative duties and business or personal development.
- Rotational dry days to cover the Dive Center operations
- Rotational Night dives with paid overtime (offered to customers just 2 nights per week)
