I was doing some shallow dives today for EQ practice and noticed that as soon as I would touch down at the bottom, my diaphragm would immediately 'release' and relax.

It could be because I would stop finning at the bottom but i am almost sure that it's much more likely that it's because I was stopping to equalise so I think i must be tensing my diaphragm for some reason when I equalise which is obviously not ideal.

I had a lot of trouble learning to equalise when I first started freediving so after a lot of experimentation I ended up with a version that works for me (or the only version so far I should say) which basically consists of constant frenzelling and BTV (handsfree).

Is it normal to have some tension in the diaphragm when equalising using frenzel or should it be absolutely relaxed? I am not sure if I am tensing it to somehow help bring air up so that I can frenzel or whether it's just a bad habit I picked up from the early days when I was desperately trying to pinch and blow (and failing miserably).
