here is my latest gun. it is 60" overal with 48" of track. it was originally a 5 piece t laminate of teak, but it was too weak and unstable , so i added a 1'4" thick piece of ipe(super hard wood) to each side, the extra strength of the ironwood allowed me to reduce the vertical dimension considerably. it is very slim for its length, and VERY stiff! you wouldnt believe it.! the barrel is only 1 3/8" tall and 1 5/8" wide. i left extra room at the butt for hip loading,(as was specified) i am now using jbl rubber butt. i think it looks good. very durable. for the finish, i did something new. i sanded with 220 grit paper, wiped with acetone then tack cloth. the brushed on west system with slow hardener. and immediately wiped most of it back off. creating a smooth and nice finish. it looks oiled kinda. it doesnt look like epoxy, not shiny like epoxy, but i ran it under the sink and water sure beads up off it nicely. the dark ipe strips on the outside of the gun really are nice. the pics dont do it justice. and now we get to the nile tec handle. has anyone bought any of this stuff yet? i got this handle frame and side wood pieces for 70$ plus shipping. i wish i had continued with the neptonics frames. i will go back to them now i think. maybe try something new again. i just dont like plastic handles. not for expensive custom guns. thats just my personal opinion. i bore the enclosed track for 5/16" shaft, so you can shoot 9/32 shafts as well

yes it's josh's. i have been using his handle frames up to this one too. i used nile tech frame and wood pieces.on this gun for the first time. this guy's(nile tech) stuff is rough! i dont approve of the quality or the design of the frame, but too late for this gun, but it wont happen again. anyway, thanks for the compliment,don

its a rear handle technically, since it has no remote trigger,(right?) it just has extra butt behind the trigger for ease of loading,(as per ordered) similar to a riffe euro-x. which is a VERY popular speargun around the keys. that gun is a little more rounded than mine, but still nothing like your design, yet it is called a "euro" really what it is, is an "american VERSION of a euro. like my gun, is an enclosed track american gun. i only called it a "euro" since it has such a small vertical profile,(1 3/8") its square because i made it and all my guns start from square stocks. i simply round the edges with a roundover bit. anything more is mostly asthetic really. if you look at all american gun makers, we mostly make guns that have more emphasis on power and shot performance with bigger spears. (hence the enclosed tracks, and fatter spears) and not on hydrodynamic properties of the barrel itself. but to be fair, i have only made 11 guns so far, with 2 years experience in gun building. by this time next year, my guns will take on some new contours and such. so far i have only made tools for spearing fish. i am working on the artistic aspect still.
