Experience with new Pegaso fins?

I see that Omer has come out with a new composite fin called Pegaso.

I'm wondering if anybody has had a chance to try out these new blades, and what they think of them.

I'm shopping for a new pair of fins, and am finding it very difficult to make a decision.

Since it appears (from the lack of responses) that no one has yet tried the new Omer Pegaso fins (perhaps because they're still too new?), I thought that perhaps some would like to comment on their appearance.

I'm thinking that the camo pattern would blend nicely with the kelp along our Calif. coast.

I'm also interested in purchasing the pegaso. Down here in Brazil i use the gara 3000 for shallow 10 to 18mts (30 to 50 feet). I'm expecting to go deeper with less effort, can anyone comment on that? need some help..

My friend has the Pegaso medium for spearfishing and gives a good feedback about them. The guy is very demanding so I don't doubt about his judgement: he dives 25 meters and more as if it was nothing, all geared and leaded, and says these fins are okay. I dove with him and the camo looks nice if you hunt on kelp and Med reef.

Better gear will help, better fins will help, just be sure to work your depths down slowly as there's more to it than just being able to get down and back up.

I've done some deeper diving with plastic fins, but to me, a fiber or carbon fin is more efficient. If I have a choice of plastic or fiber/carbon to get up from anything deeper than 30 metres, I prefer the fiber/carbon.

I'm travelling from Rio to Miami on vacation and i thought it would be the opportunity to get new fins. As my current ones are plastic (Gara 3000), and prices in the US are lower, i was looking between the Pegaso (fiber glass) and the C4 (carbon fiber). The prices are the same so what would you guys say? As i said i hunt in reefs and island coasts with rock bottom and caves, 10 to 18mts. I was concerned with carbon fiber for my type of hunt so i read that fiber glass (Pegaso) is more resistent and as much responsive as carbon. Plus, the Pegaso has that new "magic angle" between the footpocket and the blade, just like the C4.

I prefer the fiberglass to the carbon because it is tougher. Carbon fins are too vulnerable in my opinion- they are fine for a performance diver who never waits on the bottom or fights fish.

You know also they have a guy here who works for carbontek IDK if you would be interested in that. Additionally, Spearfishing world has Matt Mimetic fins by Carbontek 100% carbon with footpockets for $300. I wanted those fins but I got scared because they are 100% carbon so I found out that the carbontek guy also has blades that are made up of 70% carbon 30% glass so I am looking forward to purchasing these instead.

Just pointing out some options since your are coming to Miami. I'm not trying to change your mind! PS Austins and Spear Fish World Both carry Pegasos.

For myself I'm considering C4 VTR medium (fibeglass reinforced with a little bit of carbon). I've heard very good impressions about them...

I would get those Spaghetti but they don't have them here I hear they stopped sending those over here for some reason. But subprof still has them. I would get those blades though for the price & the option that they have an angle on the blade.

I have a set of Sporasub Radical carbon fins that have a camoflage plastic coating. I've been rough with them for 5 or 6 years and they are phenomenal, but they are less efficient than the Beauchat fiberglass fins I have now.
I've seen a lot of ratty carbon fins and a few that snapped right in half. Not very confidence-inspiring when your on your way up!

Spaghetti, do you think C4 VTR will be better than Waterways Captain Nemos? I ask because I want to try a pair of fibre fins myself and I'll probably choose mixed glass and carbon. Scubastore have VTRs at a similar price to Nemos.

Ha ha, at the moment I'm using Beuchat Elite. No one on this forum seems to have used them except for Shaneshac, who doesn't seem to post here anymore. When I buy some fibre fins I want them around the same stiffness as the Beuchat.

Sunfish, Waterways are totally unknown to me. Sorry. They're not available in my country and I don't know anybody who used them. However, at this level of quality, it's hard to tell what's better. You may have a special feeling with one fin or with another, according to your personal needs, type of diving, physical fitness, style of swimming.
This said, speaking for one, I have a very strong faith in the quality of C4 products: they never put a "wrong" product on the market so far, and that's why I feel can trust them.
I could say the same about Cressi for plastic fins, while I hate to say that Omer has done some mistakes (both with fins and guns), Sporasub has made many mistakes, but C4 and Cressi never left a diver in disgrace with a crap product so far (A.F.A.I.K.).
I also find very interesting these Mat-Mas fiberglass bi-fins. Look! Aren't they lovely?

The mimetic one almost looks transparent. Seems like very good camo.
