Falling asleep during apnea

Thread Status: Hello , There was no answer in this thread for more than 60 days.
It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.
This might seem like a silly question but can you tell the difference between a deep meditative state (as some might achieve in a static) and sleep?

Phil C

You can leave the deep meditative state consciously at any time.

On land it is easier to identify by snoring :blackeye

But in the end is all about brain waves, delta waves being very present during sleep and not meditation. Am I right?

I've never fallen asleep but sometimes when I'm feeling really good during a static I get drowsy.

I've definitely fallen asleep during tables once you get to the longer holds. This happens when I do them late at night in bed. I just wake up towards what would likely be the end of the hold anyhow, kinda sputtering when I start automatically breathing again. It's actually very pleasant, but once it happens once I'm probably done for the night - cuz I will keep falling asleep on every hold after that!

I can tell when it's likely to happen because I get that kinda dreamy brain activity going on during the hold, instead of thinking about contractions or time or trying to relax.

I did a 12 hour static one night, looked at my watch in the morning, I felt really energized after it too
