Fin Bag with wheels ?

Hey guys and gals,

I'm looking for a reasonably priced travel bag that I can fit my Cressi gara 2000's in and the rest of my gear and clothes for a plane ride. Something along the lines of the cressi apnea team bag but with wheels. Any suggestions ?

I´ve been looking for such a bag for other a year know. A german company, Ralftech, wanted to make one. But as it arrived, my diveshop told me even Cressi Gara doesn´t fit in it.

At the airport in Sharm el Sheikh I met a Scubadiver with a bag from IQ. I put my Cressi Bag next to it, and they had both the same size. So, I think, Cressi Gara should fit. Perhaps I can manage to go to the "Boot" exhibition here in germany within the next week. There I can check the IQ-Stuff.

Good Luck. I spent 20 minutes yesterday looking around the web at 36" wheeled duffel bags. What I've come to realize is that bags that large all exceed the airlines 62" overall size limitation. It doesn't look like it would be viable to have a bag that large and still be allowed to check it without a fee. I think I'm just going to ship my fins down to Florida.

Hm. My Cressi-Bag fits my Gara 3000 LD. And I´ve never had a problem with an airline. In Europe only wheight is limited. Since last year you were able to check in diving gear in a separate bag or suitcase up to 30 kg for free. From 2009 on you have to pay for it. But it´s ok. It´s 20 Euro one way.

US Airlines have gotten really tough with bags. American which I'm flying to Florida is $15 for the first bag each way and $30 for the second bag. To pay $60 to ship fins that cost $100 is a little ridiculous, and shipping is going to end up much cheaper.

I understand your way. I´m always afraid of my fins. Especially with my new C4s. I know people who take them in their cabin luggage. But I know myself. What if they say I can´t bring them into the cabin and all the other luggage is already checked in? My girlfriend would kill me.

Same problem here : I have a simple mares bag ( Mares Attack Fins Bag. Accessories Bags, Scubastore.com, buy, offers, scuba ) for my gara 3000 LD and I will travel by plane with them for the first time. I realized yesterday night that even my biggest bag cannot hold the gara 3000.

My current options are :

- take the mares bag as a cabin lugage but it doesn't fit at all with most cabin lugage rules. And what if they accept the first time and not for coming back ?

- buying a cressi apnea team bag, available in a shop near me (I need it this week). But is the apnea team strong enough to travel by plane and protect the fins of all the shocks ? Is there any problem to travel with that bag ?

- another option ?


Thanks for your experience, I'm really curious about people that travelled by plane with the cressi apnea team.

(I also wonder why the bag is advertized as 90cm long while the fins are 95cm long)
